Troopers: Ballston woman fled Tuesday Halfmoon crash, arrested in Clifton Park; Faces DWI count

HALFMOON A Ballston woman fled a Tuesday crash in Halfmoon before eventually being stopped and charged with driving while intoxicated, New York State Police said.

Margaret C. Crawford, 46, of Ballston, was charged Tuesday with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and obstruction of governmental administration and issued vehicle and traffic law violations, police said.

The incident began just before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Route 9 and Vischer Ferry Road in Halfmoon, police said.

Troopers responded there for a reported two-car crash, but the vehicle that caused the accident fled the area, police said. They soon found the car at the Interstate 87 rest area in Clifton Park, police said. Troopers did not describe the initial crash further. They did not highlight any injuries in a release.

Troopers identified the driver as Crawford and she was arrested. She later refused to submit to a chemical test to determine the alcohol content of her blood, police said.

Crawford processed and released to a a sober person to return to court later.
