High Schools: Guilderland bests Niskayuna in field hockey, remains unbeaten; Shen falls

HIGH SCHOOLS – Skyler Vanworrmer and Guilianna Vivenzio notched goals, while Sadie Miller assisted both, as Guilderland improved to 4-0 with a 2-0 Suburban Council win over Niskayuna. Julia Cropsy made nine saves for the Silver Warriors.

Karleigh Mirabile scored on a Jamie Martino assist to give Shaker a 1-0 win over Shenendehowa. Olivia Lovly made 13 saves in the victory, while Evelyn Noakes stopped three for the Plainsmen.

Caroline Kogut had a hat trick and one assist as Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake shut out Columbia 7-0. Maggie Lansley added a goal and two assists. Lily Mastrella contributed two assists. Malie Wargacki saved 20 shots for Columbia.

Shaker downed Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 25-19, 23-25, 25-11, 25-22 in Suburban Council boys’ volleyball action. Josh Blake had nine kills, five digs and five aces for the Blue Bison, while Aditya Nayak added five kills and five aces. Nabeel Pattan collected nine kills, with Mannan Ramay having 10 digs.

Liam Calhoun had 12 digs for the Spartans, with Reid Balderston registering 10 digs.

Bethlehem topped CBA 25-10, 25-15, 25-18. Danny Battista had 14 digs, eight assists, three aces and three kills for the Eagles. Setter Joe Monserrat had 20 assists and two kills. Adrian Lopez added 12 digs, four kills, three aces and two blocks.

In girls’ volleyball action, Holy Names topped Ravena 25-16, 25-11, 25-4 in a Colonial Council match. Kylie McLaughlin had 23 assists, five digs and a kill for Holy Names, which also got nine kills and eight digs from Maggie Seymour. Cece Dohr also had six kills for the winners.

Ichabod Crane downed Schalmont 25-13, 22-25, 25-18, 25-16. The Riders were led by Emma Scheitinger’s eight aces, nine kills and 25 digs. Delaney More added nine kills, 19 assists and 11 digs. Ally Flint contributed eight kills and 10 digs. For Schalmont, Alexa Knapik had 12 service points and 24 assists. Haley Rider had 10 kills, Keira Noga had eight kills and eight digs, with Mikayla Townsend contributing 29 digs.
