
ALBANY – A former corrections officer from Waterford admitted Tuesday to sexually abusing a federal inmate held at the Rensselaer County Jail, federal prosecutors said.
Sean Morrissey, 51, of Waterford, pleaded guilty to abusive sexual contact of a ward, prosecutors said.

Ensure access to everything we do, today and every day, check out our subscribe page at DailyGazette.com/SubscribeMorrissey admitted that while he was a corrections officer in Rensselaer County in September 2018, he knowingly rubbed the genitalia of a female federal inmate, intending to abuse, humiliate, harass, degrade or arouse or gratify the sexual desire of a person, prosecutors said.
Morrissey is to be sentenced in February and faces a maximum possible sentence of two years in prison. The final sentence is to be imposed by the judge.
The case was investigated by the FBI and the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin S. Clark.
