Police: Pioneer Savings Bank in Rotterdam robbed; Suspect sought

ROTTERDAM Police are investigating a robbery Tuesday at the Pioneer Savings Bank on Altamont Avenue in Rotterdam, police said Wednesday.

The robbery happened just after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the 1828 Altamont Ave. bank, police said. No injuries were reported.

The suspect approached the counter and handed the teller a note demanding money. The note implied a weapon, but no weapon was displayed, police said.

The teller then turned over an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect fled the bank on foot, police said. He was last seen fleeing on Elizabeth Street.

The suspect is described as in his 50s, approximately 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall. He was wearing a plaid jacket, tan pants, tan hat and a surgical mask, police said.
