MALTA – A Waterford man drove drunk and struck another vehicle on the Northway in Malta Wednesday, New York State Police said.
The other driver reported discomfort, but declined medical evaluation at the scene, police said.
Charged was Joseph D. Michaud, 34, of Waterford. He faces one count of felony driving while intoxicated, officials said.
The crash happened just before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on the Northway in Malta.
Troopers determined Michaud was at fault and that he was intoxicated, police said. Troopers also learned Michaud had a prior DWI conviction in 10 years, making the newest charge a felony.
Michaud’s blood alcohol content was later recorded at 0.15 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08 percent, police said.
Michaud was processed and released to a sober third party to appear in court later.
