
HIGH SCHOOLS – Nico Savini ran in the ball from 1 yard out for his third rushing touchdown with 12 seconds left to give Ballston Spa a 45-40 win over Averill Park in a Class A non-divisional football game Friday.
Savini finished with 230 yards rushing.
Averill Park (3-3) had taken a 40-39 lead with 3:49 left on Shawn Ratigan’s 1-yard run.
Blaine Zoller had two touchdowns for the Scotties (5-1). Darien Insogna added another score. For Averill Park, Nicholas Galuski ran for one score and threw for another.
In another Class A game, Queensbury got its first win of the season with a 29-14 defeat of Mohonasen. Ryan Blanchard rushed for scores of 2 and 8 yards for the Spartans (0-2 division, 1-4 overall). Ian Reynolds added a 53-yard run, and Trevon Bailey scored on a 52-yard run. Queensbury rushed for 237 yards. Mohonasen got a 76-yard kickoff return touchdown from Mike DonVito and a nine-yard scoring run from Elias Cruz.
Niskayuna earned its first shutout of the season in topping Troy 21-0. Ethan Gilson threw 28 yards to Cameron Grasso for the Silver Warriors’ first score in the first quarter. Dahvion Wimberly added a 5-yard scoring run in the second, with Isaiah Linyear’s 15-yard touchdown run coming in the fourth.
Donovan DeGuire rushed for two touchdowns, and Jake Iacobaccio threw for another pair as Shaker defeated Saratoga Springs 35-7 in a Class AA game.
Iacobaccio had an 83-yard scoring strike to Asjion Cancer, as well as a 23-yard touchdown pass to Nick Cerrone.
Malachi Moore rushed for the Blue Bison’s other score. Saratoga Springs’ score came on a 12-yard pass from Jack Rigabar to Matthew Salway.

In Class B action, Lansingburgh downed Cohoes 41-8. Logan Hardt ran for three touchdowns of 9, 15 and 35 yards, and also threw for one, a 30-yarder to Anthony Huff. Lansingburgh rushed for 318 yards.
Scotia-Glenville scored 36 points in the second quarter en route to a 48-0 shutout of Green Tech. Nick Coons rushed 11 times for 108 yards and three touchdowns. Nick Battaglia added two rushing touchdowns. Paul Marotta had five receptions for 45 yards and a score. Jack Taylor added the other Tartans score.
Schuylerville remained undefeated with a 48-0 shutout of Mechanicville/Hoosic Valley in Class C action. Lukas Sherman rushed for touchdowns of 9, 4 and 26 yards. He also was 6 of 6 passing for 101 yards. Sam Dwyer added scoring runs of 18 and 6 yards, as the Black Horses accumulated 358 yards on offense. Austin Rozowicz rushed for 23 yards for Mechanicville/Hoosic Valley, and also threw for 107 on 9 of 16 passing with an interception.
Warrensburg/Lake George topped Tamarac/Hoosick Falls 38-14 behind Brody McCabe’s 145 yards and a touchdown. Tristen Hitchcock added 117 yards and two touchdowns for the unbeaten Wolverines.
EDELMANN LIFTS DUTCHMEN
Leon Edelmann had two goals and an assist to power Guilderland past Schalmont 5-1 in non-league boys’ soccer action. Owen Shepard, Jack Ayers and Pratham Khare also tallied for the Dutchmen, while Aidyn Soehl scored for Schalmont, which got eight saves from Caleb Mathurin.
Casey Clarke and Chris Maher each scored twice to lead Galway to a 4-0 win over North Warren. Joe DeVellis, Colin Anderson and Ethan Watrobski each had an assist.
Corey Cottrell’s shot from 25 yards out provided Schuylerville the go-ahead goal in a 3-2 Foothills Council win over Glens Falls. Chris Jones added two goals for the Black Horses. Landan Phipps and Tim Motsiff scored for Glens Falls.
Kofi Jack scored four times in Scotia-Glenville’s 5-1 win over Broadalbin-Perth. Xavier DeLuca had the other goal, while Landon Russom scored on an assist from Massimo Pasquarelli for the Patriots.
Ian Rathbun and Luke Eichen each scored twice and had an assist as Queensbury shut out Hudson Falls 5-0.
CHEST’S GOAL GIVES MAYFIELD WIN
Jaidyn Chest scored on an assist from Abigail Chest in overtime to give the Mayfield girls’ soccer team a 1-0 win over Duanesburg in a Western Athletic Conference game. Sallyann Agerter made four saves for the shutout.
Sydney Schell and Nataley Caponera tallied for OESJ in the Wolves’ 2-0 win over Middleburgh. Jordan DeNinno had an assist.
Berne-Knox-Westerlo scored twice in the second half to eke out a 3-2 win over Canajoharie. Claire Scram scored all three for the Bulldogs. Sara Macrina, Lauren Emmerich and Alanna Yangon had assists, and Claire Curvin made nine saves in the win. Soren Veit-Scott and Mariah Hazzard scored to give Canajoharie an early 2-0 lead. Tori Blakeslee made 18 saves for the Cougars.
Haley Drinon scored four goals to lead Schoharie to a 6-2 non-league win over Doane Stuart. Briana Repscher added a goal and three assists for the Indians, while Julianna Slater made one save. Ava DeNoronha scored both goals for Doane Stuart.

MIRABILE, SHAKER GET IT DONE
Karleigh Mirabile scored twice and Shaker hung on for a 3-2 win over Columbia in Suburban Council field hockey action. Dharini Madadi also scored, while Jamie Martino had two assists. Zachary Booth and Rachel Ostiguy each scored for Columbia, which struck twice in the fourth quarter.
Rurika Suzuki scored on an assist from Natalie Desanti in the third quarter to give Bethlehem a 1-0 win over Niskayuna. Julia Cropsey made seven saves for Niskayuna.
Allie Shamberger had both goals, with Aubrey Ide notching both assists in Saratoga Springs’ 2-0 win over Shenendehowa. Evelyn Noakes made six saves for the Plainsmen. Lily Wilborn had one save for Saratoga Springs, which improved to 12-2.
Ava Kasulinous scored twice, and Tatum Hickey had a goal and an assist to lead Hoosick Falls to a 5-1 win over Greewnich in an Adirondack-Wasaren League contest. Emma McCart and Brooke Tonneson also scored for the Panthers, while Kiera Kirk struck for Greenwich.
GUILDERLAND WINS NON-LEAGUER
Katie Dickerson had 31 assists, 11 digs and two aces to lead Guilderland to a sweep of Mekeel Christian in a non-league girls’ volleyball match 27-25, 25-22, 25-21.
Kailey Lockwood added seven kills for Guilderland, while Jaimee Lowe contributed 10 kills and eight digs. Alanah Barnhill led the Lions with nine kills. Jahdey Jackson had seven kills, and Gabriella Luna had 26 assists.
