SCHENECTADY – A city man has been arrested in connection with an August shooting that left a man critically injured, authorities said.

Tyquan Matthews, 21, turned himself in to police Thursday. He now faces one count of second-degree attempted murder.

Matthews is accused of using a 9mm handgun to shoot the 28-year-old victim multiple times in the torso just before 11 a.m. Aug. 19 on Delamont Avenue, according to allegations filed in court.

Police based the charge on physical evidence, as well as video surveillance and statements, according to the allegations.

The victim in the shooting was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

Matthews was arraigned and ordered held on $50,000 bail. He remained in custody Friday.
