Johnstown woman charged with $20K+ theft from Galway business, troopers say

GALWAY – A Johnstown woman has been charged, accused of taking more than $20,000 from a business in Galway, New York State Police said.

Brandie R. Johnson, 33, of Johnstown, was arrested Monday and charged with third-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records, police said.

She is accused of taking the business funds from the Hudson Mohawk Group’s Galway Co-Op by transferring the money to her personal bank account without permission, police said. Johnson had worked for the company for a brief period, police said.

The investigation began Oct. 3 as troopers received the initial complaint of theft of funds from Hudson Mohawk Group, police said.

Johnson was arraigned and released to return to court later.
