Eddie F’s to open second location at former Harbor House Fish Fry site in Clifton Park

CLIFTON PARK – Eddie F’s is set to open a new restaurant in Clifton Park in February, at the former Harbor House Fish Fry.

Eddie F’s, a popular seafood and more restaurant in Saratoga Springs, announced this week they will be opening a second location at 1742 Route 9 in Clifton Park.

The owner of the property had approached Fazzone with the opportunity to open a second restaurant. Fazzone signed a five-year-lease agreement for the new restaurant.

“It was a no-brainer for me,” owner Ed Fazzone said. “It’s a great opportunity to go there, it’s well-exposed, I’d always been thinking of opening another place. So it kind of fell in my lap.”

The equipment, booths and much of what is necessary for the restaurant to open is already in place, Fazzone said. Cleaning up, some minor things and getting permits for the new location are what is left to do, he explained. He hopes to be able to open Feb. 1.

The site had been home to the former Harbor House Fish Fry which had been a staple in the town for almost 50 years. Harbor House closed in November, citing high costs and rising inflation.

The Clifton Park location will have most of the same menu as the Saratoga location, with some additional items as well.

“It’s a much bigger kitchen with more fryer space, so we can do some different things that I had wanted to do here,” Fazzone said.

The new location is a well-known site, and a lot of restaurants are able to do well in Clifton Park, Fazzone explained.

“We’re bringing a little bit of a different menu to the area,” Fazzone said. “A lot of people say ‘well Ted’s Fish Fry is down there,’ but we’re not Ted’s Fish Fry. I do blackened and grilled and I do lobster rolls, and whole belly clams, stuff like that that isn’t what other places around there do.”

Fazzone is also looking into holding some clambakes, lobster boils and other similar events at the new location. Harbor House previously hosted popular car shows at the property, Fazzone said he has been talking with the people who run the car show to be able to continue to have the shows there.

Eddie F’s first opened in Saratoga Springs in 2016, over six years ago. He explained he usually closes the restaurant from the week of Christmas to sometime in February, but this year decided to stay open at reduced hours.

“Once February hits we’ll be back to our regular hours in Saratoga, and the hours in Clifton Park will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.,” Fazzone said. “And, we’ll probably start on Monday-through-Saturday.”
