High Schools: Balanced scoring helps Albany win non-league girls’ basketball game

Albany received balanced scoring in its 67-60 non-league girls’ basketball win over Rome Free Academy on Friday afternoon.

Albany (7-0) had four double-digit scorers, led by Tahliyah Braxton’s 14 points. Shonyae Edmonds added 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Iyana Weedon and Nevaeh House scored 12 and 11, respectively. Rome Free Academy’s Amya McLeod led all scorers with 35 points.

In boys’ basketball, Hoosic Valley improved to 4-0 with an 81-52 win over Saratoga Central Catholic in a Wasaren League contest. Chris Jones led Hoosic Valley with 23 points. Logan Reilly added 16. Ronan Rowe scored 11 points to lead the Saints.

On Thursday, Catholic Central used a fast start to defeat Ichabod Crane 69-56 in a Colonial Council boys’ basketball game. Darien Moore scored 23 to lead the Crusaders, with Se’Mir Roberson adding 22. Alex Schmidt had 23 to lead Ichabod Crane.
