Albany FireWolves lose at home 16-10 to New York

ALBANY — The New York Riptide jumped out to a 10-3 lead at halftime and went on to beat the Albany FireWolves 16-10 at MVP Arena on Saturday night.

Jeff Teat had seven goals and five assists for the Riptide (1-4), and Kieran McCardle led Albany (2-2) with three goals.

The Riptide’s fast start included the first four goals of the game in a span of 6:24, two by Teat.

Connor Kelly, who had four assists in the game, finally got Albany on the scoreboard at 6:47 of the first quarter, but New York went on another tear, with five straight goals from five different players.

The FireWolves’ Hiana Thompson recorded his 100th career point on an assist in the third quarter.

The FireWolves are off next weekend before consecutive road games in Philadelphia and New York.  Albany will be back home on Saturday, Feb. 18 to take on the Las Vegas Desert Dogs.
