High schools: Schenectady boys’ basketball pulls away from Guilderland

HIGH SCHOOLS – Damari Holder scored 20 points to lead Schenectady past Guilderland 62-44 in Suburban Council boys’ basketball on Tuesday night.

The Patriots led by just five at halftime, 30-25, but took control with a 15-6 third quarter. Malakhi Hooks scored 11 points for Schenectady, and Quymaine Haggray added 10 points.

Shaker defeated Albany 57-54, as Zach Matulu and Sean Hurley each scored 13 points for the Blue Bison. Deavion Springsteen scored 16 points for Albany.

Terrance Clark scored 20 points to lead Troy to a 55-43 victory over Averill Park. Charlie Ratigan scored 15 points for Averill Park.

Ryan Savoie scored 25 points as the Broadalbin-Perth boys’ basketball team got past Scotia-Glenville 59-53 in a Foothills Council game.

Sam Hotaling scored 17 points for the Patriots. Fermin Fabian led Scotia with 18 points, Eddie Bradt scored 13 and Bryce Geniti added 10.

Peyton Smith scored 27 points to lead Hudson Falls to a 74-63 victory over Niskayuna in a non-league game. Noah Williamson scored 18 points for the Tigers, Jayden Hardwick scored 13 and Noah Tyler added 12.

Samuel Booth scored 27 points for Niskayuna.

In other non-league action, Kieran Barnes made seven 3-pointers for 21 points, and Braden LaClair also scored 21 to lead Bethlehem past Schalmont 67-46. Isaiah Smith scored 13 points for the Sabres.

Fonda-Fultonville topped Johnstown 69-23, as Nate Mycek scored 15 points for Fonda, Brady Melious scored 12 and Jackson Cusack added 11.

Kellen Driscoll scored 19 points, and Brody Holcomb scored 17 as Glens Falls downed Cohoes 64-49. Bryce Hancock led Cohoes with 15 points.

AJ Wright scored 27 points for Berne-Knox-Westerlo, but the Bulldogs were edged 61-60 by Maple Hill. Brady Cole led Maple Hill with 22 points.

Josh Lovelass scored 21 points to lead Galway past Cairo-Durham 56-40.

In the Western Athletic Conference, Northville defeated Middleburgh 50-23, as Jacob Frank led Northville (11-3) with 21 points.

Hoosic Valley improved to 8-1 in the Wasaren League and 13-1 overall with a 63-57 victory over Hoosick Falls (6-3, 9-6, as Isaiah Eckler scored 21 points for Hoosic valley and Jake Sparks scored 18.


In a non-league girls’ game, Olivia O’Meally scored 19 points to lead Niskayuna to a 56-43 victory over Duanesburg. Jackie Reffelt scored 15 points for Niskayuna.

Allison O’Hanlon led Duanesburg with 15 points, Alex Moses scored 12 points and Hannah Mulhern added 11.

Tash Chudy scored 23 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had eight assists, and Carly Wise had  18 points and 14 rebounds as Saratoga Springs defeated Queensbury 56-40. Dyllan Ray scored 18 points for the Spartans.

Joleen Lusk scored 20 points as Cherry Valley defeated Middleburgh 54-10.

Grace O’Connor scored 15 points, and Ella Blesi and MK Lescault each scored 12 as Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake topped Fonda-Fultonville 60-33.

Quincy Lake scored 13 points for Fonda, and Kieonna Christmas scored 10.

In the Suburban Council, Bethlehem defeated Shaker 51-41, as Caroline Davis scored 15 points for the Eagles. Kris Foglia scored 16 points for the Blue Bison.

Kayleigh Ahern scored 13 points, and Lily Wohlleber scored 12 as Averill Park rolled past Troy 67-33. Ava Mammone led Troy with 17 points.

Saige Randolph had 20 points and 11 rebounds as Albany Academy topped Cohoes 69-23 in a Colonial Council game.
