City trash schedule raises questions
After receiving my city of Schenectady 2023 trash schedule in late December, I noticed a never seen before icon for one of my pickup days — a white (not green) circle with a red perimeter. I quickly checked the legend and found out it symbolizes a “collection/white goods day,” which according to the schedule will occur once a month instead of every scheduled pickup day as it did in the past.
I then wondered when the City Council approved of this code change and got my answer while observing the committee meeting of Jan. 17.
I realize they never did, since the commissioner of general services was presenting it to them for the first time.
This will then require a public hearing, back to committee and if passed a full council vote, which in this case is a 6-week process concluding on Feb. 27.
So now, the big question is: What if the council does not approve of this change, even though the non-approved schedules are hanging on many fridge doors throughout the city?
This is a classic “cart before the horse” scenario, which reeks of a certain level of arrogance or incompetence or both and can become printer costly. Doesn’t the administration understand the duties of the City Council in regard to revising city code?
In this instance the council has every right to feel like Rodney Dangerfield when he would deadpan his favorite gag line, “I get no respect.” Except in this case it’s far from funny.

Constitution only protects ‘the born’
Article 1 of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”
With respect to the abortion debate, neither an embryo nor a fetus has been “born.” Thus, terms like the “rights of the unborn” are not rights that the Constitution grants. I would be interested in opinions of legal authorities on this point.

We missed chance to end communism

We surrounded them to the east, south, west, and north (Alaska).
We had the bomb, and they didn’t, forcing them to make major political and military concessions, ending communism once and for all.

Trust in SCOTUS continues to erode
As I read the article explaining that the investigation into the Dobbs (Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization) decision leak had not found the actual perpetrator, I was somewhat surprised, considering how technology has made it so easy to track literally everything we do or everybody we call or contact.
That the investigator had not found it necessary to ask the justices to sign the same affidavits that the other court employees were asked to sign strikes me as bizarre, considering how many of the newly confirmed conservative justices lied at their senate hearings, claiming that Roe was, in their opinions, settled case law and a long standing precedent.
Clearly, they were lying about any respect they might have for precedent. This investigation (or lack thereof) can only serve to further erode the trust and the respect that the public has for the Supreme Court.

What sensitive info has Biden leaked?
So President Biden is found to have mishandled top secret/confidential documents presumably from back when he was vice president, prior to 2017.
Mishandled means to manipulate roughly or carelessly; manage or deal with (something) wrongly or ineffectively.
The documents were at assorted locations other than where they were supposed to be, so they were mishandled.
No, don’t say in your mind, ‘Well Trump did the same thing.’ No, don’t go there, as we are talking about President Biden.
President Biden is known to have a lot of slip-of-the-tongue moments. We’ve seen them since he was a senator. You know, misstatements, sometimes on the edge of slanderous or racially insensitive. Sometimes even actions that had been taken that really shouldn’t have been told publicly.
Now taking those two things into consideration, just what confidential/top secret information has President Biden said to those not cleared to hear it?
It gets one to wondering that maybe the paperwork is really small potatoes compared to what he may have let slip out as a vice president, as an ex-vice president making business deals, and now as our current president.

Learn from history, don’t hide from it
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has canceled all credits for students in his Florida high schools taking an AP course about slavery. He claims the course only provides one side of the question. I would like to know what is the other side.
When we study about the Holocaust, there is no other side. When we learn about the murdering of Aborigines in Australia, the deaths of children in Catholic-run residential schools in Canada, Ireland, the United States, do we expect a listing of the ‘good’ that the other side could claim?
All subjects do not have two sides. When Armenians faced genocide in their history there was no other side.
History is loud and clear. If we don’t learn from it, we remain ignorant. Nobody says a White child today was responsible for slavery hundreds of years ago, but the privilege of White skin continues to this day because of it.
Should not all of us agree to what is a fact, rather than living in a state (in this case Florida) of fiction?

Finally, it’s possible to slice the numbers in a way that makes presidential “blame” look different.
If you look at the raw amount of debt added during a presidency, Barack Obama, who governed with Biden as vice president, ranks first. Trump ranks second on this measure.
Part of the reason Obama’s figure is so much larger than Trump’s is that he served eight years, while Trump served only four. So, if you divide the debt accumulated during each president’s tenure by the number of years they served, Biden, with only two years in office, has seen the largest rise in debt, with Trump second and Obama third.
Just to add: you may look then to “blame” Biden for adding to the national debt, but you cannot make that argument without acknowledging a global pandemic shut down most of the word’s economy for a year and a half.
That’s not a political argument, it’s an economic fact that required extraordinary and costly actions to keep our country afloat while the pandemic passed. Actions that averted a far worse calamity had they not been taken.
Simple minds though will try to ignore that reality and just say, “Biden’s fault!”

The next year, Biden missed a vote on raising the debt ceiling in November 2004 but later said he would have voted against it if he had been present. “My symbolic vote against raising the debt limit would have been a protest of the policies that have brought us to this point, and a demand that we change course,” Biden said at the time.
Debt ceiling defiance isnt exclusive to one party yet the extreme liberals pretend that it is.

What you constantly preach against with banning even contraception, much less abortion, is one of the most INHUMANE things you can do by literally condemning children to die by forcing them to be conceived or born no matter what. That thinking is medieval in its ignorance of reality. What Gates’ foundation is trying to do is preventing kids from dying from ignorance and stupidity because they are being born into a world that really doesn’t give a s##t about them. My challenge was to check RELIABILITY ratings, not which station has more viewers. Can you answer any question, as asked, without deflecting? In any event, people watching FOXBS are generally ignoramuses and white supremacist Trump b–t lickers.
