Homeless shelter needs safe location
Saratoga Springs Mayor Ron Kim formed a task force to address the city’s homeless problem, but he’s still determined to move the homeless population out of the Woodlawn garage and into the Williams Street location.
Parents of Saratoga Central Catholic School, along with Spa neighbors and school bus drivers fear for the safety of Saratoga children. A “low-barrier” homeless shelter will not screen for drugs, alcohol, sex offenders, weapons or warrants. A shelter of this nature has no business being in a residential area.
At a recent City Council meeting, Saratoga Springs Supervisor Tara Gaston addressed parent safety concerns by stating that the homeless drink during the day because they don’t have a home. And if she was homeless, she would “drink until I was senseless.”
That’s an unprofessional response and it’s also insensitive to homeless who may have a dependency problem.
City officials who encourage drinking to excess do not demonstrate good judgment and should not be advising the city on health and safety.
Children should stay safely away from people who are under the influence of drugs and alcohol and who do not have control over their actions.
The city’s pursuit of placing a low-barrier shelter in a residential neighborhood and next to a school is reckless and dangerous. Please join Spa Cath parents, neighbors and our school bus drivers in rejecting the city’s plan.
Tell the city and the mayor’s task force to place the low- barrier shelter far away from schools and families.

Appreciated article on Siena player
Kudos to Adam Shinder for the excellent article (“Siena’s Baer defined by grace, perseverance”) he wrote about Siena College basketball player Michael Baer for the March 2 edition of The Daily Gazette. It brought tears to my eyes.
The article gave wonderful insight into the loving bond that basketball provided for Michael and his father and to the closeness of the Siena College basketball family. Well done, Adam.

Losing documents can be a big hassle
Well, good luck trying to get help for an octogenarian who has lost a wallet.
It seems to me that President Biden should be looking into adding more help to the Social Security office rather than the IRS.
Trying to talk to them or figure out what they want is ridiculous.
If the ID was in the lost wallet, how can one use it to ID themselves?
But the runaround is all one gets when asking for help. Come to the office, look for documents to bring. But the documents have to be valid today, not yesterday — school, employment, military, no. Who carries that around for 60 years plus?
To replace something you’ve lost will take time. Where’s the form? How do I schedule an appointment? They’re too busy, they can’t answer the phone, don’t call back, and they hang up on you.

If we know Maddie’s devastating, life-altering injury is recorded as “abdominal pain” in the clinical trials: what other serious adverse events have been hidden by Pfizer and ignored by the FDA?

Teens ransack College Point restaurant, causing estimated $20k in damage
COLLEGE POINT, Queens (WABC) — Police are searching for a large group of teens that ransacked a restaurant in Queens without warning Saturday morning.
The manager at Fish Village in College Point said the teenagers all ran inside the restaurant, said nothing, and started trashing the place.
“He said he don’t know what happened, why they gonna do him like that. It feels scary,” said manager Tony Hu through a translator.
Hu described the teens as mostly Asian and some Hispanic. He said about 30 customers were inside at the time.
Seeing it just right here, was just really shocking,” shopper Kaylea Zhang said.
Officials say the group didn’t use any weapons or take any property with them.
The restaurant is estimating the damage will cost $20,000.
“I don’t see a reason to that and it just seems really immature and inappropriate and I’m kind of furious and really disappointed in the future generation on how they acted,” shopper Steven Zhou said.
So far no arrests have been made.

In my opinion the most important part of this story is Mayor Greenberg’s quote stating the importance of recognizing and correcting past mistakes. No progress can be made by whitewashing the past.

According to a new Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report, Biden moved $307 billion away from Medicare Advantage for green energy projects and to fund his expansion of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), among other projects, effectively offsetting the cuts.
