CLIFTON PARK — The Shenendehowa High School Musical Company is set to perform “The Addams Family: A New Musical” Friday and Saturday.

Director Brad Gregg and assistant directors Cory Moon and Joseph Kott have been working with students on the musical for the past two months.

“It’s so much fun. It’s a musical comedy, the music itself is really intricate and challenging and they are doing awesome with it,” Gregg said. “The choreographer, Emily Fuller, she is a local choreographer, she’s a colleague of ours, the choreography is incredible.”

The musical is based off The Addams Family characters which have appeared in a number of different types of media over the years. The macabre family originated as a New Yorker Cartoon comic, and was then a television series in the 1960s, and a series of movies in the 1990s. The family more recently appeared in a Netflix original series titled “Wednesday,” about the daughter of the family.

The production has about 160 students involved in the cast and different crews, Gregg said.

The school performed ‘Mama Mia!’ last year as its first production since the pandemic, Gregg said. “The Addams Family” is a different show, but also high energy, he added.

“Addams was one that we thought we could continue to draw a lot of students out for, and expand the cast,” Gregg said. “Because of the size of our school district, we’re really interested in shows where we can offer the opportunity to more students.”

Students rehearsed Monday through Friday for the past eight weeks.

The show opened on Thursday at the high school’s East Auditorium and performances are set to continue through Saturday. Showtimes are 7 p.m. Friday and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets can be purchased and seats selected in advance online at or at the door with cash or check. Some performances may sell out, Gregg said.
