Dilbert’s creator forfeited his access
I have to disagree with the conclusions of Jim Moorhead’s letter (“Wokeness killed Dilbert cartoon”) of March 7.
I agree with his statement that the “Dilbert” cartoon was a valuable commentary, and I will miss it. Like him, I am opposed to the “woke” agenda, and I feel that much of cancel culture is silly and destructive.
But I think Scott Adams forfeited the use of our nation’s press as a voice when he made gross and negative racial generalizations in a public statement.
I believe in neutral application of principle. I don’t like to hear racial generalizations from BLM activists either. It is generally both seductive and destructive to tell any demographic to focus solely on someone else’s role in their problems.
If people choose to support a group mentality and make themselves a subset of society
(e.g. BLM, Proud Boys, etc.), they should focus second on the behavior of that subset, as it affects the group and its relationship with the overall society.
After that, and only after that, they have a truly undeniable right to comment on society at large.
I expect “Dilbert” will find some niche and live on. But I won’t be in the audience until Scott Adams sincerely apologizes to African Americans for his insult and to all Americans for his contribution to polarization of our country.

Trump fans ignore facts about Biden
The statement, “I find it hard to believe Biden won” says it all is the response from Mr. Croce, Sr. in his March 3 letter (“Writer ignored Biden’s negatives.”)
Typical of those that continue blind faith to the con man that led an attack against his own nation’s Capitol.
With over 60 lawsuits proving the election was fair, they continue the “willful ignorance,” as he is quoted as saying.
You can have your own opinions, but not your own facts.
Facts: during and after the COVID-19 pandemic nearly all nations worldwide are suffering high inflation, with examples of Britain and Germany nearly double ours. The pandemic disrupted global supply and demand for oil, so the prices were low, and no one was traveling.
Then OPEC limited production to keep prices high, and along with record profits it’s Big Oil that’s mainly to blame for gas prices.
Spouting conspiracy is how Trump’s supporters go about following the MAGA way, not by factual information, but by trying to rile those ignorant enough not to dare research the truth.
Record job growth, lowest unemployment, trying to work with those that actually want to help the average American regardless of affiliation is how it’s supposed to go.
Instead Trump’s supporters resort to name calling and ridicule while accomplishing nothing except passing out the red hats to get you to donate money.
How about supporting someone who’s actually doing something?

Writer nails effect of life in red states
I want to compliment Paul Sator on his terrific letter, (“A look at life in Red States America”) in the March 4 Gazette.
He beautifully combined substance with sardonic wit to describe the horror of America under Trumpist Republican rule.
Much praise to Paul Sator.

To get government you want, vote
I recently came into contact with a family member, not immediate, that told me he doesn’t vote.
I of course replied with a nasty sarcastic, “What?” I got a major dissertation on what is wrong with the system and how he chooses not to participate.
I replied that as an American, it’s your right to vote or not, be smart or stupid and to be free to do both.
You want all the protections of being an American living in this country to conduct your real estate business, drive on our roads, fly to places with the security of the FAA to ensure your safe passage to your destination, yet you won’t participate in the system of voting so many people lost their lives to earn?
Personally I have no respect for him anymore and refer to him as a part of our anatomy where we sit.
On another note, while visiting a friend in the hospital, although on opposite sides of the political spectrum, I jokingly said how much I love George Santos and that the people who voted him into office got exactly what they deserved.
He conned them and won the seat. Wouldn’t it be great, I said, if Trump used him for his vice presidential running mate?
He replied, “I think it would be a great ticket.
They would really straighten this country out.” I didn’t respond because it didn’t matter. He’s a Vietnam vet, former workmate, golfing partner and a true friend. And yes, he votes.

Make safety top priority in Saratoga
Saratoga Springs Mayor Ron Kim’s task force on homelessness recently had its first meeting. I would encourage the task force to be charitable toward the homeless, but also be honest and factual.
Studies show that when a homeless shelter enters your neighborhood, crime increases while property value decreases.
Even the homeless advocates on the task force admitted that the homeless steal and they have drug and alcohol dependency problems. Glossing over these very serious issues is not helpful.
Spa Catholic parents, along with neighbors and Saratoga families, have valid safety concerns. A low-barrier shelter does not screen for drugs, alcohol, sex offenders, weapons, or warrants.
Low-barrier shelters are so dangerous that they do not allow families and children to enter. But we are supposed to believe that this shelter is safe to have next door. This defies common sense.
Lastly, I would remind the task force that the most vulnerable population, who is completely innocent and in need of our protection, is our children. Let’s make the safety of Saratoga children our first priority.

GOP ‘woke’ policies bigoted, ignorant
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s Stop W.O.K.E. Act is as accurately named as it is obscene.
Regardless of the euphemisms in the acronym, the term “woke” is defined by Merriam Webster is, “aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice).”
So, the governor believes teaching important societal facts and issues in our schools is not only to be forbidden, but punished.
Racial and gender disparities in income, wealth, educational attainment and healthcare outcomes persist.
The history and solutions are complex, but that such disparities exist has been demonstrated repeatedly, both academically and scientifically.
It is certainly not hidden experientially. Gender fluidity has a history in cultures going back 3,000 years.
Building upon this idiocy, the Republicans in Congress, with the assistance of a couple feckless Democrats, have passed bills in both houses to block a rule allowing retirement plan managers to consider environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) factors in investment decisions.
I’m not a partisan, not a registered Democrat, but this level of hypocrisy in Republican policy is too obvious to ignore.
The party of deregulation wants to regulate business just enough to prevent progressive social change, as if, in addition to the incontrovertible issues mentioned above, a potentially impactful way to deal with the inescapable reality of climate change should be ignored.
These policies not only ignore science, our national story and human history, but show a desire to make our children, as well as the policies they will create, stupid.

Great letters today. I hope it’s a sign that people are waking up to reality. I doff my hat to you all.
Mr Varoma I agree outstanding factual letters absolutely refreshing
“Studies show that when a homeless shelter enters your neighborhood, crime increases while property value decreases.”
Fact.
Apparently Mr. Richard, your woke liberal progressive Saratogians heve never heard of San Francisco, for example.
Or any other area ‘homeless’ are coddled and “felt sorry for”. Liberals need their heads examined.
I agree with Guy and Christophe. James Cimino wrote an excellent letter describing the dangerous Republican culture wars aimed at asking us to ignore the painful aspects of our history and the most vulnerable individuals in our society. Randy Hayner clearly outlined the phony right wing attacks on Biden and their appeal to the ignorant. I agree with Bob Belive on the importance of voting; Norman Perazzo’s assessment of Dilbert; and Vince DaQuisto’s praise of Paul Sator’s all too likely view of what the United Red States of America would be like.
Paul Gosar (R. Arizona) is a retired dentist, member of the House, and obviously not mentally competent. Clearly he doesn’t understand the meaning of law and order, insurrection, or the reality of the threat to democracy Trump and 1/6 were. I think this man should be ejected from the H of R along with many other unsavory GOP representatives:
The Independent reports: 12/13
“Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar has said “heads have to roll” over the January 6 Committee’s now-concluded investigation into the Capitol riot. In an interview with the right-wing outlet The Gateway Pundit published on Sunday, Mr Gosar agreed that former Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney, the vice chair of the committee and one of only two Republicans in the panel, should be prosecuted for her role in the probe.
Mr Gosar, who has relentlessly downplayed the attack had said in January that he was poised to conduct a “real” investigation into January 6. “ I think there’s also military that are involved,” the politician told the Pundit. “And I think that their heads have to roll. Otherwise, you condone this lawlessness … we see lawlessness everywhere and that’s part of the precipitating actions that Congress is allowed.””

Ted Cruz’ upcoming book is entitled “Unwoke”. In other words, “Asleep”. I couldn’t think of a more aptly named book for such a useless, unserious politician.
So, Anthony, at what point do we, we who were not alive, do not condone, and would never condone or participate in any of the abusive behavior that happened all over the world, not just the horrible-awful USA, when do we stop paying for something we had nothing to do with?
Secondly, a vast majority of homeless people are not “vulnerable”. They are for the most part societal dropouts who choose to be transient, drug addicts, molesters and thieves. This is a proven fact. But doesn’t fit your agenda, does it. Homeless people should be unceremoniously booted as far away from normal society as possible, except in the very few cases of actual need.
Why don’t you, Chuck and Lou convert your basements, and volunteer them over for homeless shelters? Uh huh. I thought so.
NY bank seized. Another bank shut down. Is this the beginning of the end for our financial system. Be prepared have emergency food supplies and alternate sources of money. Silver and gold are always worth something
Mr. Brandon 🤡 I’d be more worried about your brain being seized by The Trump QAnon Cult than the banks.
Coincidentally the WEF recently war games a banking collapse. Huh that’s weird . They war gamed the global pandemic shortly before it started. Now banks are collapsing. Just saying seems awfully coincidental
Mr. Brandon 🤡I hear that aluminum foil prices will go sky high soon. If I were you I would buy up all the aluminum foil now so you don’t have a shortage when making your Aluminum foil hats you wear when you surf the dark internet.
Mr varoma when our society collapses as the brandies predicts there willbe no internet! Picture it brandies sitting in a corner wearing his fashionable foil hat babbling where is vlad when will vlad save me?
Just FYI CNN worshippers, pacifists and wokers, this statement:
“Coincidentally the WEF recently ‘war gamed’ a banking collapse. They war gamed the global pandemic shortly before it started. Now banks look to be in danger of collapsing.”
Is verifiable fact. You need to stop believing in your government. No one is going to help you but you, and if you can’t, may God have mercy on you.
If you think the poop isn’t about to hit the fan, you indeed have your heads buried in each other’s ‘exhaust pipes’. It WILL happen in our lifetime. Get ready. I am not going to help you, I have my own family to look after.
Christo the one who endorses the murder of fetuses and Dunn Chuck Guy. You go ahead and follow the train to vacation land . You and the likes of your ilk will cry out to government that will not care.
Brandies I wouldn’t go spreading those lies about your dreams and desires of our government collapsing you boys tried that once already on Jan 6th and failed miserably
AMERICA REMAINS A GREAT DEMOCRACY offering great mental health care to all I suggest you avail yourself of it Sir as you wait for Putin to take over
I believe Tucker Carlson’s pathetic interpretation of the 1 / 6 / 21 riot will actually have a positive effect; Anyone with half a brain, that may have been on the fence regarding any credibility of the Fox, if your stupid watch us, programming, will realize their continuing lies have crossed the line of sanity.
I also realize there is still the hard core, far right MAGA base that have absolutely no concern for truth and will continue to be the cancer of America. Hopefully intelligent voting will eventually cure this extreme right disease.
Todays letters give me hope.
Someone pointed out that the relationship between VP’s and the presidents they serve under is often strained. I think it was Joe. That is true. In an attempt to balance the ticket and get more votes, a presidential candidate often chooses a running mate quite different from himself. However, I know no other former VP ever said anything like this about the president whose administration he served in:
“President Trump was wrong. I had no right to overturn the election and his reckless words endangered my family and everyone at the Capitol that day, and I know that history will hold Donald Trump accountable,” Vice President Mike Pence
This supports Lou’s contention that Tucker’s ludicrous attempt to downplay the 1/6 insurrection by highly selective editing will backfire on him. Even Trump’s VP recognizes how horrific it was.
For Ignatius, we should never stop studying the past honestly and learning from the mistakes we made. That is how we build a better country. When possible, we should rectify the continuing consequences of past mistakes and discrimination. To illustrate, Black families have, on average, 1/10th the net worth of White families. The wealth they produced for those who owned them, remained in the hands of White people. Discrimination during and after Jim Crow drastically limited opportunity for many Blacks. It is not wrong for the government to offer help to Blacks, or for that matter, all impoverished people.
People who don’t have enough money to feed their children properly are a greater concern than your property value. Are you anti-choice? Just curious.
Ignatius! I didn’t think it possible! You have become more embittered, self-centered, defeatist, and cynical than you were before your long hiatus:
Ignatius posts, “If you think the poop isn’t about to hit the fan, you indeed have your heads buried in each other’s ‘exhaust pipes’. It WILL happen in our lifetime. Get ready. I am not going to help you, I have my own family to look after.”
Did anyone ask for your help? I didn’t notice if they did.
I see Ignoramus is back
Trump is sinking. He is being abandoned by more and more Republicans. The far right MAGA candidates, notably DeSanctimonious, will soon begin to soften their hard right stands as they witness the former president melting down:
Mediaite: 3/13
Somebody appears to be really panicking:
These Four Radical Left investigations of your all time favorite President, ME, is just a continuation of the most disgusting Witch Hunt in the HISTORY of our Country. No different than the RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA HOAX, the UKRAINE, UKRAINE, UKRAINE IMPEACHMENT SCAM, the SPYING ON MY CAMPAIGN, the “NO COLLUSION” MUELLER REPORT, etc. Whether it’s the MAR-a-LAGO RAID, the UNSELECT COMMITTEE HOAX, the PERFECT GEORGIA PHONE CALL, or the STORMY “HORSEFACE” DANIALS EXTORTION PLOT, ALL SICK, FAKE NEWS!
I think he is mentally ill, a full-blown paranoid psychotic sociopath.
“Is verifiable fact. You need to stop believing in your government. No one is going to help you but you, and if you can’t, may God have mercy on you. ”
Fox lied to you, flynn. That’s a verifiable fact. That you still hang on to what they’re telling you speaks volumes for your understanding of the word “fact”. But we’ve already seen that, and since you all reject education you’re doomed to your little world of Brownian conspiracy theories.
May your god help you.
First Republic Bank’s stock fell more than 75% Monday as investors fretted about the bank’s stability.
The lender said over the weekend that it’s getting $70 billion in funding from JPMorgan and the Fed’s backstop for depositors.
Trading was temporarily halted in dozens of regional banks this morning as shares fell by up to 75 percent when the market opened after Joe Biden claimed ‘US banking is safe.’
Major US banks were also hit as contagion fears spread through the sector with Wells Fargo plummeting 7.5 percent, Bank of America falling 7.4 percent, Citigroup plunging 5.8 percent and JP Morgan down 2.7 percent.
Uh oh! Looks like somebody should’ve made better choices about their medical advice! Maybe Facebook isn’t the best source…?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A Rhode Island man who promoted ivermectin died from a common side effect to the veterinary medicine, sparking concerns from his followers about their own reactions to the drug.
Danny Lemoi, of Foster, had been taking a daily dose of veterinary-grade ivermectin since 2012, after he was diagnosed with Lyme disease, and he said he quit all other medical treatments five years later because he believed the drug intended for large animals like cows and horses had “regenerated” his heart muscle, reported Vice News.
“Though it was obvious that Danny had the biggest heart, it was unbeknownst to him that his heart was quite literally overworking and overgrowing beyond its capacity, nearly doubled in size from what it should have been,” wrote the administrators on his Telegram channel. “We understand that this is going to raise questions for those who were following him.”
Ivermectin became a popular — but ineffective — alternative to COVID-19 treatments promoted by anti-vaccine advocates, and some of Lemoi’s followers followed his dosage recommendations for themselves and children who have autism, Down syndrome and other conditions, and some of them reported alarming side effects after his March 3 death.
“I’m 4 months now and all hell’s breaking loose, all pain has hit my waist down with sciatic, shin splints, restless leg syndrome, tight sore calves & it feels like some pain in the bones,” a member wrote last week.
The conditions they reported matched numerous well-known side effects from ivermectin, which is used to treat parasitic worms like tapeworm in livestock, but the administrators pledged to continue Lemoi’s Telegram channel while some followers cast doubt that his death was related to the drug.
“I am very new to this… I’ve been on Bimectin paste for 20 days,” said one follower, who also claimed to have Lyme disease. “I have severe chest pain. Costochondritis symptoms. Air hunger, internal tremors, brain fog, headaches on the back of my head, anxiety, depression, doom and gloominess.”
Not sure why some on this board seem so giddy about the US bank failures I’m not surprised by the unpatriotic ramblings but am certainly greatful the government under Biden acted quickly
I guess the raging was for naught.
The scale of the problem is nothing like 2008 but maybe someones Chinese advisor has other information.
Ed Waite again points out the irony of the parents of the Saratoga Central Catholic School trying to stop the Homeless shelter because the proposed site’s property line adjoins part of the school’s property. Catholic tradition teaches that each person deserves dignity and service to others is important. Parents who desire a Catholic education for their children have an opportunity to show their children Catholic values first hand. Lisa and Ed Mitzen have offered to fund this shelter. No one should try to stop the Mitzens and others from “helping the least of our brothers”. Where do those who support this shelter want the homeless to go? Maybe some want the homeless to stay in the parking garage and they will give them a porta potty—really!
Chuck D several poster on this board enjoy a hit of invermectin on a regular basis if I recall one of the party boys was calling for dumping the dollar for precious metals earlier today.
Marie I think sweet those folks blocked the Porta potties but the good people working to create the shelter will prevail
Lauren Boebert rails against sex-ed then announces her 17yr old son is having a baby with his 15 yr old girlfriend
Is it me, or does BM sound deliriously happy about the possibility of more banks failing?
Guy, I guess she didn’t tell him about birth control because then he would have felt free to have sex with his girlfriend. The idea of abstinence as birth control is as deluded as the people who promote it. Many of them seem to have forgotten the overwhelming desire for sex that accompanies puberty and early adulthood. A hormonal urge (imperative?) that is biologically commanded.
Marie I am sure you have a couch maybe a spare bedroom, how the garage and run an electric heater. It has nothing to do with the religion it has to do with the drug use and mental stability of some homeless. Here’s an idea let’s set up a homeless shelter next to someplace you like to go maybe the senior center, or some hob knob tea / coffee shop. A previous post made a good point some people homeless is by choice because of their addiction or inability to be around people. You sound like a NIMBY kind of person. Cast disparity on those who speak up for the safety of their children. Hey here’s a great idea Saratoga school has a bid parking lot, and out building maybe even some garages they are not using. Set them right up at the public school it is all tax payer money build some tiny houses through BOCES and set them up right in the school grounds. They don’t need all of those fields for sports that just white privilege having all that space when there are homeless people.
mr santo he does which would lead most rationale people to the conclusion that he is not a great patriot nor is he the wealthy missing Rockefeller he hints he is. or he is penniless. ill not share my opinion
Christo acting like DUMB CHUCK again .
quote:
Be prepared have emergency food supplies and alternate sources of money. Silver and gold are always worth something.
Nothing said about dumping the dollar.
But typical of your ignorance BABY murder endorser.
“I am sure you have a couch maybe a spare bedroom” How about you go to abortion clinics and tell the the pregnant women not terminate the pregnancy because you will either adopt the unborn child, or sign a contract to support the child for 18 years. Jesus would be so happy.
Marie Schenectady’s City Mission is a truly inspiring program serving the homeless. I wonder if anyone has looked at Mike S. program.
lets go brandies it obvious youre getting all worked up again. calm the rage quiet the spinning let the adults talk shhhhhhhh.
Mr. Bill 🤡 would love to see banks fail just to say it’s Biden’s fault. as unusual he doesn’t think about what he says.
You have to read this to believe how totally whacky some of these televangelists have become. Does anyone really believe this crazy person has anything worthwhile to say? Many other televangelists are just as deluded; I posted about insane and greedy John Hagee yesterday. Today’s evangelical nut job is
Hank Kunneman, who seems to believe Joe Biden is many different individuals:
Scamvangelist: Biden’s Been Replaced By Body Doubles
March 13, 2023 Christianists, Trump cultists
“You can build your life on sand and be woke, it will fall. You can build your church on woke, it’s gonna fall. Or you can build it on the rock, which is the kingdom of God.
“And it will stand no matter what happens – winds, floods, rain, egg prices, inflation, a fake administration – 46 that does not exist. Interesting that God said that from the very start, November 4th, that this is a fake administration, it doesn’t exist. Why would he say that?
“And then you got a guy, when I look at pictures, I don’t know how many guys are trying to be him. All you conspiracists know I’m a realist. I’m a cartoonist, I can recognize when somebody doesn’t look the same.
“First of all, you got different looking eyes, different looking head, different looking earlobes. Well pastor, you’re just one of those conspiracists. I don’t read conspiracies, I don’t even listen to the news.
“I’m just telling you that I’ve seen pictures and you’re trying to pull the wool over our eyes. And I ain’t buying it, cause I ain’t deceived.” – Televangelist Hank Kunneman.
I think he fell into a huge puddle of his own BS and is struggling to keep his head up out of the stinking mess.
He’s not deceived, just psychotic.
mr Varoma you can read that dude like a bad novel youre getting better everyday
Thank you Christophe. Schenectady City Mission is a wonderful helping hand for the homeless.
Anthony I’m sure that Mr. Bill 🤡 and Mr. Brandon 🤡 uses him as a source for their conspiracies and truly believe these nut jobs. They both believed Sydney Powell and Rudi Giuliani election lies and I’m sure would embrace him
Just asking? Is Reilly and lgb one in the same? Seems to be a regular fatalistic writing style from both.
As far as two banks failing happens all the time. And before I get but not during previous wana be president for life administration this is from that time.
Here is a list of the banks that closed, with dates of closure: And to save the defenders of that administration from figuring out the dates and who was president these all happened during tRump reign of chaos. 15 TOTAL closures.
The partisan blame game fails to address economic factors underlying bank failures. Many factors could cause a bank to fail, including under capitalization, liquidity, safety and soundness, and fraud. Attributing those failures solely to the political party in power ignores those nuances, as well as what lessons can be learned to prevent other banks from failing in the future.
Florida……You hit them with facts…..Bravo !…..now they’ll go on to the next lie.
LGB and Ignatius think they are clever when they tell those in favor of helping the poor and homeless that we ought to convert our basements and garages to shelter them. People in such dire straits need medical help, counseling, access to showers and toilet facilities, nutritious food and drink. They are very unChristlike in their haughty condemnation of us for not providing such facilities. But most individuals don’t have the resources, skills, or room to do what the haughty far right egocentrics think they should. Caring for the needy is a societal responsibility and I would pay more taxes happily to support government efforts to help those in need. On the other hand, I do not favor the damage done to our environment due to pollution from their insistence on the continued use of fossil fuels. So the next time there is an oil spill or train derailment or severe storm due to climate change, I think the far right should pay for the clean up out of their pockets. Do you have any idea how self-centered and foolish you sound, LGB and Ignatius? Ridicule the idea if you want, but it does take a village. We are a global community, like it or not, and we should strive to end hunger and homelessness throughout the world. It is what Jesus wants. No?
mr. santo there is a high level of perversion among this group
Do you imagine a monster planning the involuntary sterilization of women is possible of treating of homeless person like a human being.
Brandies and his lot are borderline losers with the need to subjugate their fellow human beings to have a sense of self worth. i mean the guys daily posts reflect his lack of intelligence.
own it dude don’t hide behind your fake name
“Okay if the women gets an abortion then she obviously does not want children why just sterilize her so she can have all the unprotected sex with as many partners as she wants and never have to worry about abortions? No different than suggesting men getting a vasectomy. You are correct men cannot get an abortion, yet a women would not need one is it weren’t for a man men getting a vasectomy
