Man fired gun inside Rotterdam residence, police say

ROTTERDAM – A man has been arrested, accused of firing a gun inside a residence in Rotterdam, police said.

No one was hurt.

Arrested was Venkatasuma Sunnie, 48, of Ozone Park. He faces one count each of first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies, along with misdemeanor menacing, police said.

The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday at a residence on Fort Hunter Road, police said.

Officers responded to the residence for a report of a man with a gun. They arrived to learn that a fight had occurred between two people there for a family gathering, police said. One of the two then fire a handgun inside the residence.

No one was hit by the gunfire, police said. Officers soon identified Sunnie as the suspect and took him into custody.

Sunny was sent to the Schenectady County Jail to await arraignment.
