Trump deregulation to blame for woes

How is it possible that there are over 1,000 train derailments a year in the United States? One explanation is Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans, whose goal was (and still is) to deregulate every safety regulation the Obama administration ever imposed.
Trump, who just recently lied to the people of East Palestine, Ohio, claiming that Biden and FEMA would not send aid to East Palestine (one of his thousands of lies) overturned multiple regulations on the railroad industry, which contributes millions to conservative Republican lawmakers.
When in office, Trump pushed many corporate-friendly measures that made railroads (and us) less safe.
He overturned an Obama rule requiring better braking systems for trains like the Norfolk Southern one carrying dangerous materials. (They are still using Civil-War-era brakes!)
Trump also stopped a proposal that would have required at least two-man crews and banned states from requiring it. He also halted auditing railroads. He appointed to the EPA a former administrator and lobbyist of the American Chemistry Council, a major lobbyist for companies like Dupont and Monsanto. This guy attempted to weaken proposed protections against carcinogens like PFAS chemicals.
Trump never saw a safety regulation he didn’t want deregulated. Just this week, Trump’s sycophants in the House voted to block President Biden’s protections for thousands of streams and wetlands.
If the Republicans are in charge of the environment, my advice would be Tom Lehrer’s: “Don’t drink the water and don’t breathe the air.”

Militant Christians deny women rights

I have previously expressed my support for women’s reproductive rights.
Yet current events have compelled me to reaffirm my support in rebuttal to the militant conservative Christian efforts to outlaw abortion and contraceptives.
Procreation isn’t dictated by libidinous males, sanctimonious clergy and politicians or badgering friends and family. Women have the right to indulge in the emotional and physical pleasures of intimacy without fear of pregnancy. There is no compulsory reason for women to give birth against their wishes.
Women shall not be denied access to contraceptives and the option of terminating an unplanned or hazardous pregnancy. They, in conjunction with their partner, must accept responsibility for their actions.
However, a decision to abort should include mandatory professional counseling.
The Christian Right apparently assumes God has empowered them to demand the incorporation of Christian dogma into state and federal statutes. Can this be construed as an act of religious persecution, especially in regard to non-Christians, the unaffiliated and atheists?
After all, imposing Christian values upon a diverse nation of over 332 million people in the 21st century is the epitome of arrogance (and ignorance).
The criminalization of abortion and contraceptive use won’t fill the pews, replenish coffers, deliver votes and preserve family continuity and pastoral positions.
In the end, it won’t guarantee a White majority in the future either.

NY treads on the 2nd Amendment

Live free or die. The New Hampshire state motto says it all. There are many advantages to living in New Hampshire.
One advantage is their gun laws which, if a person is legally able to carry a concealed gun (by federal or state law); they are unencumbered when it comes to owning firearms and concealed carry.
Per the website everystat.org, New Hampshire averaged 14 people killed and 54 wounded by guns annually (not counting suicides).
Per the same website, New York averaged 402 people killed and 1,522 wounded by guns annually (not counting suicides). Seems that smothering the Second Amendment in New York isn’t working so well.
So while Andrew Waite has an unlimited amount of newspaper space (see his March 11 column “Sheriff Giardino’s expressed discretion is a slippery slope,”) to plead the downstate liberal agenda, those of us living in Fulton County who fully support Sheriff Giardino’s position on the Second Amendment only have 250 words.
So, I must be brief. Some of us believe that our Constitution was written to throttle unfair government regulation.
I am beginning to believe that those who buy or own guns are more worried about the despots running our government than they are seeking protection from criminal activity.
Thank you Sheriff Giardino for being a proud voice for Americans throughout Fulton County.

Love ‘Wallace the Brave’ comic strip

With the uneven number of daily comics now, I propose that you make it even again with the daily “Wallace the Brave.”
My husband and I have found the daily and have been reading it since you introduced us to it.
When there is an opening on Sunday, let’s vote on a new comic strip.

SVB is all part of the plan.
Silicon Valley Bank, which collapsed on Friday after a classic bank run, donated more than $73 million to groups related to the Black Lives Matter movement, online records show.

As first reported by The Federalist, the now-defunct bank pledged in the summer of 2020 – when the nation was gripped by racial unrest after the police custody death of George Floyd – to increase its commitment to “diversity, equipment, and inclusion (DEI)” in the workplace.

A report from August 2020 highlighted the fact that around two-thirds of the bank’s workforce met the “diversity” criteria. Another report that year touted SVB’s achievements in supporting minorities.

In an introductory letter to the report, CEO Greg Becker said SVB touted employee matching programs that focused on “pandemic response, social justice, sustainability, and supporting women, Black and Latinx emerging talent, and other underrepresented groups.”

FOX Business has reached out to BLM for comment.

Some figures on the right have tried to draw a connection between Silicon Valley Bank’s so-called “woke” priorities and its inevitable demise.
Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., on Sunday argued that Silicon Valley Bank was “one of the most woke banks in [its] quest for the ESG-type policy and investing.”

Environmental, Social, and Governance, or “ESG,” refers to non-financial standards used by asset managers and investors in financial decision-making.

“This could be a trend and there are consequences for bad Democrat policy,” Comer said during a segment on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Features.”

The left, meanwhile, has pointed to President Trump’s signing of the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act, which rolled back key regulations put in place after the 2008 financial crisis. Former Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., served on the board of Signature Bank, which was shut down in connection with SVB’s collapse. He has said that the 2018 regulatory change played no role in either bank’s issues.

Other critics have pointed to many red flags surrounding the bank, including its rapid growth since the COVID-19 pandemic, its unusually high level of uninsured deposits, and its many investments in long-term government bonds and mortgage-backed securities, which tumbled in value as interest rates rose.

The Deep State Socialist are all in for the destruction of America.

Please see my comment yesterday to get an honest review of the situation regarding “BLM donations”. This comment here is just what I predicted and demonstrates a real mental limitation of the commenter.

MORE INFORMATION: comes out TIC Biden and his corrupt family will lead to 25th amendment for Biden.

BREAKING: @GOPoversight releases bank records showing that Biden family associate Rob Walker, used his company to transfer money from a Chinese energy company to Hunter Biden, James Biden, Hallie Biden, and a fourth “unknown Biden

Wow funny how these tin foil hat conspiracy theories keep coming true.

That’s weird. Everyone else see your conspiracy theories continue to crash and burn, just as I’m confident this will too. The big problem is that the Republican Party has very little credibility, and twisting facts and fabricating a reality and outright lying is a proven techniques of theirs.
Hope to see them in court, they never seem to do well there either (if the courts even entertain their fantasies).

Is this the Uranium one material from HRC deal? Is this heading to Ukraine for a false flag for WW3?

UN nuclear watchdog says 2.5 tons of uranium missing from Libyan site.

Another badge for TIC Biden for destroying America and selling out to China.

Richard W. Lewis, Jr do you think the kids and parents of Sandy Hook Elementary and Uvalde schools among others had their rights infringed on for “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness just so you can pose on Facebook holding your AR-15 ? Their kids are dead because of lax gun laws…They can’t pursue anything now. Is carrying a gun wherever you want worth the price of those kids and the horror their parents have to live for the rest of their lives. …..Please refrain from using the stupid phrase ” guns don’t kill people do”

Mr. Brandon 🤡 I didn’t read your comments. But I wanted to remind you …you’re an idiot.

OMG! It’s all interconnected, like the internet itself! A series of tubes!

How do you ever make sense of it all? With that massive brain of yours?

christophe Stalka

Let’s go brandies please calm yourself you are raging and skipping all over the place with the lies this morning. Take a moment ask yourself why you feel the needs to spread these lies. AMERICW IS A GREAT Democracy try to embrace it

Guy, I think your criticism was aimed at Mark F. Bohne, who pulled out select statistics ignoring other relevant factors involved in the discrepancy between gun casualties in NH and NYS, most of them demographic, such as population density, and heavily populated urban areas.

Richard W. Lewis wrote an excellent letter showing the relationship between mindless MAGA demands for deregulation and the current banking crisis. Everyone should read it, especially the blindly angry LGB.

Mark Rahn wrote a superb letter about the dangers of bringing a particular set of religious beliefs, dogma, into determination of government policies. Do we really want to be a Christian Taliban? If you think that is far-fetched I remind you that 19 Republican Tennessee state legislators introduced a bill to bestow personhood on a fertilized human egg, FROM THE MOMENT OF CONCEPTION! That would make those involved in an abortion, even the morning after pill, open to charges of 1st degree murder. Christian Taliban anyone?

Mark Z. Baraback’s column “Will GOP voters make Trump election deniers pay in 2024?” on p.A8 offers hope that some Republicans are turning against Trump because of his election denial and scheming violently and illegally to become an American Putin.

He points out that Republican election deniers “received 2.3% less support in (85) statewide contests than Republicans who stood fast and refused to indulge Trump’s insidious blather.” I love that phrase “insidious blather.”

In this paragraph he indicts the majority of Republicans:

“Many in the GOP were perfectly fine with Trump exploiting the presidency for personal profit, blackmailing a foreign leader to boost his reelection prospects (impeachment No. 1) and inciting a violent raid on the Capitol to overturn the results when he lost the race (impeachment No. 2).

In this paragraph he indicts the extreme partisanship among Republicans who put the GOP before the country:

“It was only after Trump helped deliver November’s crushingly disappointing election result that a greater number of Republicans summoned the courage and voice to speak up and began distancing themselves from the disgraced ex-president and his reverse-Midas touch.”

Bill Marincic

Yes and the 4th Biden is Hunter Bidens dead brother Beau’s wife, the same one Hunter was dating after he died. Now, why would Hunter give her 1 million dollars?

Guy Varoma

Mr. Bill 🤡 what business is it of yours Hunter Biden does with his money? When and if he gets charged with a crime then speak your mind. If you have anything left of it.

Marincic, Fox is reporting the Bidens have been investigated and complained about by the Republicans for 5 years. When will there be any real trials, or any evidence produced?
Or is this just an empty campaign chant now? Because as it stands, you have a Big Fat Nothing. A Huge Zero. A Gaping Void, where there should be proof.

Nice trick you tried there Mark presenting those statistics. But total gun deaths are meaningless when New York’s population is almost 20x that of New Hampshire. If you bothered to actually click on the states from the link you posted and read the gun death RATE, you would see that New York has the 4th LOWEST gun death rate in the entire country, with 4.7 deaths per 100,000 people, and New Hampshire has over double the rate of New York with 9.7 deaths per 100,000. You want to know what states have the highest rates of gun deaths? Mississippi, Louisiana, Wyoming, Alaska, Alabama, New Mexico, Missouri, Arkansas, Montana, and South Carolina, all states with very lax gun laws. The lowest rates? Massachusetts, Hawaii, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and California. All states with tougher gun laws. Coincidence?? Once again, the right inadvertently owns itself when trying to use math to prove their point.

Bill Marincic

dumb chuck, as soon as we have all of the evidence there will be a trial and The Big Guy will be gone. BTW, my news came from USA Today and NBC, when the lefties circle the wagon you might as well admit you all were wrong and we were right. I think I’ll have my tinfoil hat bronzed.

I’m sure the evidence of Biden’s supposed misbehavior will come in to focus, just as soon as there’s sufficient evidence to reverse the 2020 election. Just keepgetting your information from Fox News and the right-wing ecosystem, after all, when have they ever lied to you or steered you wrong?

Mark Rahn writes the letter of the Month, and maybe the year. This is what we’re seeing: a demographic of religious zealots who have the delusion that their god gives them the right to beat everyone else into submission to their belief system.

The desired result (apparently that we all fall into submission) is a complete sick fantasy. That they can’t see history’s and present day’s results of similar fixations, that it always fails, speaks volumes to the limit of their ability to think critically.
Simply put: we are just not going to go along with your crusade.
Is this your belief too, marincic? Do you think we’ll all just fall into line behind your god?

Here’s some real insight into the words and thoughts that drive them:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1 Timothy 2:1-15
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
Bill Marincic
Sounds great dumb chuck, but those were the times over 2000 years ago, just like the things that happened here in the 15th and 16th centuries and the 1800s.
Bill Wemple
So many countries build highways and rails so they never meet at a crossing. Would cut down on so many train accidents caused by collisions. I was 26 before I ever took a train ride. Went everywhere by car, bus, or airplane beforehand. Should be able to hop a train to almost anywhere in Northeast as a day trip, but the US does virtually nothing to support the railways and we wonder why they are falling apart.
Bill Marincic
I have to agree with you, there used to be a passenger train to Watertown and then in the 70s it just stopped, you would think with Ft. Drum there would again be a need. I love the train.
Guy Varoma
Mr. Bill 🤡 what were you right about? The one thing I can say with high confidence is that you are never right. Keep watching Fox News they need the ignorant to boost their ratings. Being factual isn’t important to them….Ignorant viewers are.
Bill Marincic
Hey Fake Guy, I listen and watch more CNN and MSDNC than Fox, I watch about 25 minutes of F&F in the morning and I listen to less than 10 minutes of The Five on my way home 1 day a week. That’s how i know you lefties are full of crap.
Guy Varoma
So what you are saying Mr. Bill 🤡 that with little influence by Fox News that you don’t need much fake news to make you ignorant. …Bravo !
Matthew 5:22 But I say to you that anyone who is angry with a brother will be subjected to judgment. And whoever insults a brother will be brought before the council, and whoever says ‘Fool’ will be sent to fiery hell.
Colossians 3:7-8 You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world. But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language.
Ephesians 4:31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior.
And finally, from the Gospel according to Matthew:
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
Answer honestly BM: Do you think the type of person these biblical verses admonish us to be is reflected in your posts on this site?
The far right in our country is sounding more and more like the Taliban. This is just unbelievable:
Mediaite reports: Mediaite 3/17
“Daily Wire host Michael Knowles offered an eyebrow-raising answer on his podcast this week to a question about whether or not the U.S. should bring back public executions – by fully endorsing them.
During a Q&A session on The Michael Knowles Show, the host replied, “Certainly. Yeah, I think that that would do a lot to bring back the deterrent effect of capital punishment, certainly.”
I wonder if he wants the executions to be gruesome, beheading, disemboweling, hanging, in order to enhance the deterrent effect of public executions. “Knowles is a practicing Catholic and he attends the Traditional Latin Mass.” Wikipedia
What kind of Christian do you claim to be, marincic? You’ve never told us, yet you’re quick to toss out your favorite bible verses, to prove …something.
Bill Marincic
Santo, I’m not angry at anyone, I don’t hate you or the rest of you. I have pity for you. I pity you because of your self-serving ignorance. They say if you are not a liberal at 20 you have no heart and if you are not a Conservative by 40 you have no brains.
Yes, the “Christian” who use Christ only as a tool to fulfill their sinister causes.
And if you’ve been “saved by Christ” it proves even he obviously makes mistakes. You most certainly haven’t been saved from the evil of your entire being.
Jesus must not have noticed you in the line of repentance.
Richard W. Lewis, Jr. There is only one POTUS responsible and it’s Biden, Trump said Biden would cut oil and cancel Keystone, Check.
Biden would destroy your 401K, Check.
Fuel prices would rise, Check.
Criminals would take over, Check.
That’s just a few, Biden is responsible for inflation which is what caused these banks to fail.
The Republicans are responsible for the violent insurrection on January 6.
Fact.
Anything one of their minions say to deflect from that reality is just that, deflection.
From The Guardian,
The international criminal court (ICC) in The Hague has issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin for overseeing the abduction of Ukrainian children, sending Russia another significant step on the path to becoming a pariah state.
In granting the request for warrants by the ICC prosecutor, a panel of judges agreed that there were “reasonable grounds” to believe Putin and his children’s rights commissioner, Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova, bore responsibility for the “unlawful deportation” of Ukrainian children.
The warrants are the first to be issued by the ICC for crimes committed in the Ukraine war, and it is one of the rare occasions when the court has issued a warrant for a sitting head of state, putting Putin in the company of the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and the Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir.
BM, you see no conflict between your posts and Matthew 5:22?
There are many reasons for the banking crisis but probably deregulation is the main underlying cause as banks took on too much risk, especially in speculative cryptocurrency investments. Of course the immediate cause is panic induced massive withdrawals on the part of customers.
Bill Marincic
All you people have is January 6th and that is falling apart. And yes all of the bad things that have happened since Biden took office are his fault and his alone. According to PBS only 37% of democrats want old harry legs to run again, those 37% were interested in more Corn Pop stories.
Well, there’s also the 84 fraudulent Republican electors and the well documented plan hatched by tRumpy’s inner swamp. They’re all under investigation and that fat lady hasn’t sung yet.
Then there’s all the classified documents he tried to hide and got caught.
And the noble Republican Party stands by him all the way!
Florida2015
FYI BM,
Not counting Biden ok ing the new the Alaska Willow Project. From a Article in Yahoo finance March 7, 20203.
Total gross crude and other liquid exports hit a record of 11.128 million barrels per day, more than the total output of either Russia or Saudi Arabia,” Citi energy analysts wrote on March 1. “U.S. net crude imports fell to lows not seen since the 1950s.”
You won’t hear the Biden administration bragging about these fossil-fuel developments, but they’re welcome nonetheless. More U.S. energy production will put downward pressure on gasoline and electricity prices and make the United States less vulnerable against Russian efforts to use energy as a weapon.
Many Americans think U.S. “energy independence” is a thing of the past, overtaken by President Biden’s focus on green energy. But Citi is highlighting data showing that American dependence on foreign energy has continued to decline under President Biden, even besting levels reached under President Trump, who championed fossil fuels.
U.S. energy independence is a bit of a misnomer, since it implies the nation can produce all the energy it needs for its own consumption, without buying any from foreign countries. It doesn’t work like that. We import certain types of fuel to certain regions because it’s cheaper or more efficient than sending U.S. product there. Same with exports: U.S. producers can sometimes earn more selling overseas than at home. Energy markets are complex, and it doesn’t make sense to limit production or consumption to domestic sources.
Florida2015
Read the book by Michael Farrone, Hold the Line you think 1/6 was a tourist visit. Farrone was the one pulled out into the crowd and beaten, tasered, stomped, beat with flag poles.
Especially his assessment of the terrorists who were there and the disrespect from Republicans in particular and his own Police Union who supported tRump. Way more impact in writing than on video. New reporting also says the have 700 to 1200 the FBI is still hunting for.
Guy from Pensacola, Fl just received 5 years Federal prison, he was the one coordinating the “push,push” of the mob at the Tunnel Entrance where the worst of the violence was we all watched on TV and Farrone was grabbed.
The 1/6 insurrection is “falling apart” only for people stupid enough to keep believing Tuckers’s BS.
According to an article in the Skeptical Inquirer (March/April 2023), B—sh–t is “an act of communication that disregards truth and evidence–as opposed to lying, which involves a false narrative–b—sh–t seems, according to Petrocelli’s results, to enhance the persuasiveness of weak arguments but is deleterious to the acceptance of strong ones.”
This is an important distinction. People are more vulnerable to a BS statement such as Trump was the greatest president ever, than to an outright lie, such as Trump never said he could get away with grabbing p—-y because he was a star.
People on the far right who believe in absurd conspiracy theories are less capable of recognizing BS than critical thinkers, most of whom lean left.
This is a prime example of BS:
…all of the bad things that have happened since Biden took office are his fault and his alone.”
Really? What a ridiculous statement.
Guy Varoma
Florida ….Mr. Bill 🤡 won’t believe a word you are saying…..His loyalty is to Trump and always will be. If you must convince people on what happened on Jan. 6th the battles is lost already. Nothing will sway Mr. Bill’s 🤡 tiny brain that Jan. 6th was an insurrection put in motion by Trump their hero.
I believe the majority MAGA supporters actually do know the extent of criminal activity that took place on 1 / 6, but they present and follow a false narrative because it’s all about supporting “the MAGA cause.” They’ve got the “all’s fair in love and war” mentality and justify anything.
And then you’ve got Fox and the Tucker Carlson‘s that are just rounding up the sheep and couldn’t give a sh/t about anything other than the money, and perhaps notoriety.
The BS aspect of the downplaying of 1/6 avoids narratives and outright lies. Tucker simply showed the least violent lawless cuts he could put together. That is why BS is so effective. It is truth avoidance, a form of propaganda. To say the MSM exaggerated what happened on 1/6 is BS also. What does that mean? Nothing, of course.
Cutting through the BS:
