CAPITAL REGION SCRAPBOOK – A look at the St. Patrick’s Day parade from March 20, 1976.
The 1976 parade originally had been scheduled for St. Patrick’s eve — Tuesday, March 16 — but was canceled as a 10-inch snowstorm hit the Capital Region. The March 20 parade started at 9:30 a.m., stepping off at Nott Terrace.
Marchers proceeded down State Street through Erie Boulevard. The Irish and their friends of 2023 will celebrate St. Patrick and the coming of spring on Friday, St. Patrick’s Day.
