UAlbany men’s lacrosse opens America East play with win over UMass Lowell

UAlbany’s Silas Richmond had four goals and an assist in the Great Danes' 15-7 America East conference victory over UMass Lowell on Saturday.

ALBANY — Thomas Decker’s goal with 4:56 left in the first quarter snapped a 2-2 tie and triggered a 7-0 run that carried UAlbany to a 15-7 victory over UMass Lowell in the America East men’s lacrosse opener for both teams on Saturday at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium.

Graydon Hogg scored 41 seconds after Decker’s tally. Then Silas Richmond took over. He scored three straight goals, with the first two coming late in the first quarter, to give the Great Danes (1-0 AE, 2-4 overall) a 7-2 lead.

TJ Sheehan and Jack Pucci closed out the run with goals.

“I thought we played with good energy and purpose,” UAlbany head coach Scott Marr said in a press release. “Both ends of the field were dialed in. Our 6-on-6 defense was excellent, and we had a lot of contributions on offense.”

Richmond finished with four goals and an assist. Hogg had two goals and two assists. Decker also scored twice.

UAlbany visits defending conference champion Vermont next Saturday.
