LOOKING AHEAD – With a new week underway, here are five events and news items our team of reporters is tracking.
BSPA SCHOOL DISTRICT TO HOLD SUBSTANCE USE EDUCATION, PREVENTION PROGRAM
The Ballston Spa Central School District is offering back-to-back events on March 22 at the high school regarding substance use education and prevention. Between 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. there will be a discussion regarding current drug trends followed by a panel discussion and question and answer segment from 7:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. Those two events will be livestreamed on the school’s YouTube channel. From 8 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. people will be able to get Narcan training. A free Narcan kit will be provided.

SPOTLIGHT ON SARATOGA RESTAURANTS
Saratoga County Restaurant Week returns on Wednesday, with more than 30 restaurants participating.
Diners can visit some of their favorite eateries around the county for lunch and dinner specials, including at Dizzy Chicken, Morton’s, The Flats, Prime, Panza’s, Scallions, Neighborhood Kitchen and others. Diners can also enter to win $100 restaurant gift cards.
Organized by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, the event runs through Thursday, Mar. 30. To enter or see the list of participating restaurants visit saratoga.org.

YWCA 40th ANNUAL EMPOWERMENT AWARDS GALA
The 40th annual YWCA Empowerment Awards Gala will be held at the Rivers Casino and Event Center on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. For the 40th anniversary event, the organization will be celebrating the Empowerment Awards Gala (formerly Women of Achievement) by recognizing ten individuals in the community for their incredible accomplishments in nine categories. Albany Business Reviews Market President Walter Thorne will be the keynote speaker, with 2022 Achievement Award Winner Marcella Hammer serving as the master of ceremonies. MONTGOMERY COUNTY LEGISLATURE OPIOID SETTLEMENT
Six committees of the Montgomery County Legislature are set to meet on Tuesday, March 21. The education/government committee is expected to review a resolution which authorizes a 15-year settlement agreement of $145,076 between Fulton and Montgomery counties in a class action lawsuit against Walgreens ($57,561), CVS ($53,620) and Walmart ($33,895). The Fulton County Board of Supervisors last week authorized a similar agreement of $300,000. The claims are based on an alleged failure to comply with the Controlled Substances Act.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIP REMATCH
UAlbany women’s lacrosse opens its America East schedule on Saturday at noon at John Fallon Field when the Great Danes host Vermont in a rematch of last year’s conference championship game. In that matchup, the Catamounts ended top-seeded UAlbany’s season, 12-11, marking the ninth consecutive season in which the Graet Danes lost in the conference final.
UAlbany — which also plays at UConn on Wednedsday — has started this season 4-4, most recently splitting a trip to California with a 21-20 loss to Stanford and a 17-15 win over UC Davis. The trio of Katie Pascale, Shonly Wallace and Sarah Falk have combined for 72 of the Great Danes’ 111 goals so far this season. Vermont, picked to finish first in the conference this season, is also 4-4 and opened its America East slate on Saturday with a 17-7 win over Bryant.
