SCHENECTADY — The Union College women’s lacrosse team earned a rare shutout Wednesday night, topping Smith 19-0 in a non-conference matchup at Frank Bailey Field.

With its fourth consecutive win, Union (4-1) has four wins in the first five games for the first time since 2008, when that year’s team won its first eight games.

The Dutchwomen got off to a strong start with eight goals in the first quarter.

Union dominated statistically, outshooting Smith 34-6 and winning 20 draw controls to Smith’s two.

Sydney McPartlon led Union’s scoring with four goals. Dana Truini added three goals to go along with a team-high six draw controls. Morgan Adams contributed two goals and two assists, with Katie Julien adding two goals and an assist.

Union travels to Skidmore at noon Saturday for its Liberty League opener.
