
BROOKVILLE — The first quarter went ideally, but the third quarter was Siena’s undoing in a 13-11 loss to LIU in a MAAC men’s lacrosse game Saturday at Bethpage FCU Stadium.
Siena (1-2 conference, 3-4 overall) got four goals in the first quarter from Pratt Reynolds in jumping out to a 5-3 lead.
LIU (2-1, 3-5) stayed with the Saints in the second quarter, trailing 7-6 at halftime. The Sharks opened the third with two goals to take the lead. Siena tied it at 8 on Jack Cavaioli’s goal with 5:18 left in the period, but the Sharks finished the quarter with two goals and never let the Saints retake the lead.
Sean Boll led LIU with three goals and one assist. Brad Beck added two goals and an assist.
Reynolds’ four first-quarter goals led Siena. Colin Gleason contributed two goals and one assist, while Cavaioli finished with two goals. Goalie Chris Yanchoris made eight saves to go over 400 for his career.
Siena travels to play Canisius on Wednesday.
