LOOKING AHEAD – With a new week underway, here are five events and news items our team of reporters is tracking.

MOHON CAPITAL PROJECT VOTE

The Mohonasen Central School District Board of Education on Monday will vote on a proposed $48 million capital project that would include infrastructure upgrades and preventative maintenance at each school building. If the project is approved, the proposal will appear on the May 16 budget ballot for final voter approval. The projected cost to taxpayers is less than $10 for homes with an assessed value of $150,000 for six years beginning in the 2025-26 academic year, according to the district. The Board of Education will meet Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the Center for Advanced Technology building’s large group instruction room, 400 Warrior Way.

BOWLING FOR A PURR-POSE

The Montgomery County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will host its annual Bowl-A-Thon fundraiser from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Kelly’s Imperial Lanes in Amsterdam. Hit the pins, pet a pooch and win prizes. Registration fees of $15 per bowler or $60 for teams of four cover two games and shoe rentals. Collect pledges to support the MC-SPCA and animals cared for by the nonprofit agency. For more information, visit mc-spca.org.

HUBBS ROAD DESIGN CONCEPTS OPEN HOUSE

A public “drop-in” style open house will be held at the Clifton Park Senior Wednesday from 5-6:30 p.m.. The open house will discuss existing conditions and potential design concepts for a new path along Hubbs Road to Main Street, pedestrian crosswalks, and signage connecting Dutch Meadows and Country Knolls to Jonesville in Clifton Park. Town officials, staff, and the town’s consultants, M.J. Engineering, will be available to discuss the project, and take comments from the public.

LOCAL BREWS

Drink Schenectady, a pop-up event hosted by the Capital Craft Beverage Trail, is on tap for Saturday at the Museum of Innovation and Science in Schenectady.

From 6-9 p.m., there will be libations to sample from local breweries including Albany Distilling Company, Frog Alley Brewing Company, Schenectady Distilling Company, Wolf Hollow Brewing Company and others.

AMSTERDAM’S JACKSON IN FINAL FOUR

Amsterdam native and Albany Academy graduate Andre Jackson Jr. will be on the floor for UConn in the Final Four of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament on Saturday in Houston.

Jackson and the Huskies, who started their run through the NCAA tournament with a pair of wins in Albany, won their four West Region games by an average of 22.5 points, and demolished Gonzaga 82-54 in the regional final on Saturday in Las Vegas. Jackson had eight points, nine rebounds and 10 assists in Saturday night’s victory.

UConn’s national semifinal opponent — either Miami or Texas — was set to be determined Sunday night. The Final Four doubleheader started at 6 p.m. this coming Saturday, with all games televised on CBS6.
