BALLSTON SPA – A Saratoga County Jail corrections officer has been arrested, accused of providing confidential information to an inmate, sheriff’s officials said.

The information provided posed a substantial risk of injury to another person, officials said.

Charged was Michael Millington, 23, of Greenwich. He faces one count each of official misconduct and second-degree reckless endangerment, misdemeanors.

Millington has been suspended, pending a disciplinary hearing, officials said.

A release did not describe the information allegedly provided further. Millington was arrested Friday.

“I will not tolerate any amount of misconduct from any of my employees,” Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo said in a statement. “Law enforcement officers are held to a higher standard, as they should be. This arrest, by no means, represents the other fine men and women who come to work every day here at the Sheriff’s Office to protect and serve the residents of Saratoga County. But when an employee crosses the line, I will not hesitate to act.”

Millington was processed and released to appear in court later.
