Heavy – Proctors secret show announced as ‘Back to the Future: The Musical’

SCHENECTADY – Schenectady is getting the “Back to the Future: The Musical” next year.

The Olivier Award-winning show is set to hold technical rehearsals at Proctors and play four preview performances in Schenectady from June 4-6, 2024. Following that the tour will open at the KeyBank State Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio. Additional tour stops and casting will be announced at a later date.

The tour launches less than 12 months after the show’s Broadway opening, scheduled for Aug. 3, 2023, at the Winter Garden Theatre. The critically acclaimed West End production of “Back to the Future: The Musical” officially opened in London in 2021 and won Best New Musical Olivier Award as well as multiple WhatsOnStage Awards and a Broadway World Award for Best New Musical.

Based on the Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment film starring Michael J. Fox as teenager Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as Doc Emmett Brown. The show’s book is by Bob Gale, who co-wrote the film trilogy, with music and lyrics by Emmy and Grammy Award-winning Alan Silvestri and six-time Grammy Award-winning Glen Ballard.

Tickets for the Schenectady show will be available as a subscription exclusive to 2023-2024 KeyBank Subscription Series subscribers and theREP 2023-2024 subscribers starting Wednesday, May 31.
