High schools: Mohonasen softball falls to Ichabod Crane

HIGH SCHOOLS – Ichabod Crane pitcher Kari Graziano struck out 12 Mohonasen batters in a 5-1 non-league softball win Wednesday. Graziano went 2-for-4 with a double. 

Mohonasen’s Maritza Gonzalez rapped a double, with Kiera Rogers adding a single, the lone hits given up by Graziano.

Natalie Controy scored the game-winning run in extra innings to lead Saratoga Springs past Columbia 9-8. Conroy led off the bottom of the eighth inning with a walk, stole second and scored on a throwing error.

Jackie Cutting struck out eight batters in her six innings of work for Saratoga. Columbia’s Stella Guzek recorded seven strikeouts in four innings.

Lansingburgh’s Guiliana Patregnani struck out 10 batters, allowed only two hits in a 10-10 tie contest with Watervliet, called due to darkness. Taylor Moran went 3-for-3 with a double and Anna Patregnani hit a double and had two RBIs.

LANSINGBURGH BASEBALL EARNS FIRST WIN IN TWO YEARS

Lansingburgh pitcher Anthony Huff threw five shutout innings allowing only one hit in 12-0 victory, the first win for the program in two years. Miguel Campbell and Daniel Pondillo each had multiple hits and RBIs for Lansingburgh.

GREENWICH DROPS JOHNSTOWN GIRLS’ LACROSSE IN DOUBLE OT

Despite a five-goal performance from Molly Sweeney, Johnstown girls’ lacrosse dropped its Foothills Council opener in double overtime 9-8 to Greenwich.

Johnstown gained control of the ball off the second overtime faceoff, but Greenwich’s Maeve Kelleher was in the right spot to collect a loose ball and start a run up field before passing the ball off to Molly Abate to collect the game-winner 53 seconds into the second overtime.
