SARATOGA SPRINGS – Saratoga Springs High School and district officials are working with the city police department to investigate a video that circulated on social media Tuesday of what police are calling “a fight between juveniles.”
The Snapchat video, obtained by the Gazette, shows what appears to be four school-aged individuals hitting another school-aged individual, sending them to the ground, and then continuing kick and hit them.
Police said they are investigating the incident that occurred around 3:30 p.m. on West Circular Street. The street is a common route for students to travel by foot between the high school campus and downtown.
“As this case may involve juveniles, there will be no further comment at this time,” said Paul Veitch, the city police department’s public information officer.
Language accompanying the social media post claimed that the apparent victim was disabled. However, Superintendent Michael Patton indicated Wednesday that the claim was not accurate, but could not provide further detail.
“Based on student privacy rights, I cannot share the diagnosis and classification of any student,” he said.
