Wangsness leads Siena women’s lacrosse past Marist

LOUDONVILLE — Katy Wangsness had a perfect day shooting in leading the Siena College women’s lacrosse team to a 14-8 win over Marist in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game Wednesday.

Wangsness scored on all five of her shots, and also added an assist, to lead the Saints, who improved to 2-0 in the MAAC and 7-4 overall.

After Marist (0-2, 2-8) started the scoring, Siena scored five unanswered goals, extending 32 seconds into the second quarter to take command. Siena goals came from Wangsness, Soures, Kelly Logue and Amanda Nieman in the first quarter, and Wangsness in the second.

Marist closed Siena’s lead to 6-5 in the third, but the Saints answered with a 3-0 run.

Kerri Gutenberger led Marist with three goals.

Soures added three goals, while Jordan Bentley had two goals and two assists. Logue and Grace Dobrzynski each had a goal and two assists. Sabrina Krasner made 10 saves in the victory.

Siena hosts Mount St. Mary’s on its Senior Day at noon Saturday.
