The Jason Morris Judo Center in Glenville has qualified four athletes to compete for Team USA at the World Judo Championships in Doha, Qatar, May 7-14.
That pushes the JMJC’s streak to 14 straight World Championships since 2005 with at least one athlete representing the club, and the most since JMJC sent five to the 2011 worlds.
Ari Berliner, 24; Kell Berliner, 29; Hannah Martin, 34; and Nicole Stout, 25 all were named to the team.
Hannah Martin, a Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake graduate, will compete in the women’s 63kg weight class and is making her eighth appearance at the worlds, the most ever by a JMJC athlete. Her best result came in 2013, when she finished ninth.
Ari Berliner will be the men’s 66kg representative and will be competing at the second straight worlds.
Kell Berliner (81kg) will also be going to his second worlds, having made the team for the first time in 2017.
Stout (women’s 78kg) is making her third trip to worlds, after having competed at the event in 2022 and 2017.
Since the JMJC’s inception in 2000, the club has placed 54 athletes on the world team.
Martin and Ari Berliner also represent the New York Athletic Club.
