Ben Yerina’s third single of the game drove in Mason Veronezi with the game-winning run Tuesday, lifting Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake to a 4-3 non-league baseball victory over Cohoes.
Timothy Venditti had a double and three RBIs for the Spartans. Luke Zoller added two singles.
Justin Trudeau led Cohoes with a triple and single. Nick Chicaway had a double and two RBIs. Connor Trudeau added a double.
Christian Mello scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the sixth to give Saratoga Springs a 4-3 win over Albany Academy. Geno Savoca had a double for Albany Academy.
Ben Belliss hit a two run homer during Shaker’s three-run first inning, and the Blue Bison beat Guilderland 4-0 in the Suburban Council. Starter Ethan McGarry pitched five shutout innings. He allowed three hits, struck out five and walked three. Joey Trombley didn’t allow a hit in two innings of relief. Micah Vennard had a double for Guilderland.
Brian Brink’s grand slam capped an 11-run fourth inning to power Galway to a 13-2 Western Athletic Conference victory over Mekeel Christian Academy. Galway pitcher Eric Zelezniak struck out 10 and also had a double and three RBIs. Josh Lovelass added a home run and single. Shane Nygaard and Caleb Hussey each had a double for Mekeel.
Hoosick Falls beat Stillwater 18-5. Andrew Sparks had a double, two singles and four RBIs for Hoosick Falls. Jake Sparks added three singles, and he struck out nine in six innings. Eli King added a double, two singles and three RBIs. Shea Brown had a double for Stillwater.
Will Cummings and Demetrio Morales each had a double and single in Catskill’s 11-1 Patroon Conference win over Maple Hill, Cummings had three RBIs, and Morales drove in two. Morales also pitched a complete-game four-hitter, striking out 12.
TIRADO POWERS AMSTERDAM SOFTBALL
Eliana Tirado had a great game in Amsterdam softball’s 14-9 Foothills Council win over Broadalbin-Perth. Tirado went 4 for 4 with two home runs, two doubles, a walk and four RBIs. She hit a solo homer in the first inning, and blasted a three-run shot in the fifth.
Sophia Galligan and Teagan Kreshik had two hits and two RBIs in Columbia’s 5-2 non-league win over Guilderland. Peyton Stavrou also had two hits for Columbia. Skyler VanWormer had a double for Guilderland.
Ava Heffner hit two home runs and drove in five as Ichabod Crane defeated Shaker 12-2. Emma Scheitinger had three singles for Ichabod Crane, Abbey Milazzo had a double, single and two RBIs, Meredith Garafalo had a double and two RBIs and Makayla had a double and single. Hannah Hipwell had a double and two RBIs for Shaker.
Catholic Central pounded out 16 hits in a 14-1 non-league win over Albany.
Zionna Robarge pitched a five-hitter in going the distance as Fort Plain beat OESJ 12-4 in the Western Athletic Conference.
SCHENECTADY/MOHONASEN BOYS’ LACROSSE WINS
Azai Baker had five goals and two assists, and Keegan McGovern collected four goals and an assist to lead Schenectady/Mohonasen to a 15-0 Colonial Council boys’ lacrosse victory over Catholic Central/Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons. Rorick Perry scored three goals, and E-Sonne Ponzo added two goals and an assist.
Nathan Wolfe had five goals and two assists in Shenendehowa’s 19-5 Suburban Council win. Nick Stockwell added three goals and an assist, and Vincent Goldman had two goals and two assists.
Sean Dwyer and Kyle Grevelding each had four goals and an assist to power Ballston Spa to a 21-1 win over Colonie. Vinny Rossetti had two goals and three assists for the Scotties, and Declan Phillips and Gavin McNulty added a goal and three assists each.
Tommy Carroll scored four goals as Saratoga Springs defeated Bethlehem 12-5. Carter Hills had three goals and two assists for the Blue Streaks, and Tobey Diulio added three goals.
Columbia blanked Albany 20-0. Buck DeLaMater had three goals and four assists, and Anthony McLaughlin added two goals and three assists. Ryan Clarke also scored twice.
MAROTTA, PHANG PACE BETHLEHEM GIRLS’ LACROSSE
Caroline Marotta and Kirsten Phang had four goals apiece to lead Bethlehem past Saratoga Springs 15-9 in a Suburban Council girls’ lacrosse game. Mae Conway added three goals and an assist for the Eagles, and Sophie Klein contributed two goals and three assists. Carly Wise led Saratoga Springs with six goals.
Molly Marra helped Columbia beat Albany 14-4. Sienna Randall added two two goals and an assist for Columbia, and Kayla Morris and Allison Beattie had two goals each.
In a non-league game, Lauren O’Hagan had three goals and an assist in Shaker’s 16-10 win over Bullis (Maryland). Natalie Bennett had two goals and two assists for the Blue Bison, who had a 9-3 halftime lead. Collecting two goals and an assist for Shaker were Ava Scattaregia, Catie Lanahan, Lindsey McCulloch and Cara Calicchia.
