SARATOGA SPRINGS — Zach Davis scored all three of his goals for the game during a 6-0 stretch in the fourth quarter as the Union men’s lacrosse team pulled away from Skidmore 12-7 in a Liberty League game on Wednesday.
The Dutchmen stopped a three-game losing streak while improving to 2-2 in the league and 7-4 overall.
Brian Gonsalves’ fourth goal of the game tied it for Skidmore (1-3, 7-5) at 6-6 with 32 seconds left in the third quarter, but the Thoroughbreds didn’t score again until Jon Bouvier got a meaningless goal with six seconds left in the game.
By then, Union had gone on a tear that included a tie-breaking goal by Davis and his third of the game and 24th on the season for a 12-6 lead with 2:47 left.
Davis also assisted on a goal by Archie McEvoy that tied it at 4-4 in the second quarter.
Thoroughbreds goalie Colin Kuester made 18 saves.
Union’s rough patch heading into the game included losses to two teams ranked in the top three in the country, Tufts and RIT, and a one-goal loss at Clarkson.
