LOOKING AHEAD – With a new week underway, here are five events and news items our team of reporters is tracking.
TASK FORCE ON HOMELESSNESS MEETS
The Saratoga Springs Task Force on Homelessness will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the Music Hall inside City Hall. The group will continue discussing the definition of a low barrier shelter and begin looking at locations for a potential homeless shelter in the city. The task force came about after plans for a shelter at 5 Williams St. fell apart in February. The group is tasked with determining what kind of shelter is needed, where it will go and who will operate it.

AMSTERDAM WINGFEST
Restaurants will serve up their best and hottest chicken wing recipes during Amsterdam’s third annual WingFest on Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m. Single wing samples will be available for $1 at 19 participating locations. Connoisseurs can vote for their favorites as eateries compete for bragging rights. Food and drinks specials will also be offered along with giveaways. CLIFTON PARK CLEAN SWEEP DAY
The Town of Clifton Park’s trails and parks clean-up day, Clean Sweep Day, will be Saturday. The community-wide clean-up day will be held in parks, nature preserves, trails, and along waterways in Clifton Park. Volunteers can sign up online through the town’s website. The town will provide trash bags and will pick up all trash and debris collected. The annual event has been held for over a decade, and is held in April to celebrate Earth Day and National Volunteer Week.

SARATOGA SPRINGS LIONS HOST NIGHT AT THE BREWSEUM
Night at the Brewseum is back at the Canfield Casino in Saratoga Springs on Friday. Hosted by the Saratoga Springs Lions Club, it’s the 10th craft beer, wine and food-tasting fundraiser of its kind, running from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Craft beer and cider from local breweries will be on tap and there will also be a selection of wines and food from local restaurants.
Regular admission tickets are $50 in advance. VIP tickets, which allow entry from 5 – 6:30 p.m. for a craft spirits tasting event are $60 in advance and $70 on Friday. For more information visit saratogaspringslions.com.

FONDA SPEEDWAY OPENS
The 72nd season of auto racing at Fonda Speedway is set to open Saturday night as the Montgomery County Fairgrounds oval hosts the Jack Johnson Memorial Montgomery County Open.
The 40-lap race in the modified division will pay $12,000 to the winner. It will serve as the headline attraction of a night of racing that includes all of Fonda’s regular weekly divisions as the races for season points championships begin.
Gates open at 2:30 p.m., with hot laps starting at 5:30 p.m. and the green flag dropping on racing at 6:30 p.m. Grandstand admission is $25 for adults, $23 for seniors and free for kids 11 and under. Pit admission is $40 for members and $45 for non-members, $10 for kids ages 6-12 and $2 for kids ages 5 and under.
