GUILDERLAND — A driver from Mississippi was killed in a two-car crash in Guilderland crash Tuesday night, and a Schenectady driver and child also suffered minor injuries, police said.
Killed was Vernon D. Baggett, 24, of Pascagoula, Miss., according to police.
The crash happened just after 11 p.m. on Western Turnpike, just west of Fuller Station Road, police said.
Baggett, the only occupant of his vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police identified the driver of the other vehicle as 22-year-old Taminson Boone. Boone and an 11-year-old passenger were treated at the scene by Guilderland EMS for apparent minor injuries and taken to Albany Medical Center for further evaluation, police said.
Members of the Guilderland Police Department were assisted by Guilderland EMS, Guilderland Fire Department, Fort Hunter Fire Department and the Albany County Crash Investigation Team.
