One dead in Saturday crash on Route 7 in Niskayuna

NISKAYUNA — One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Troy-Schenectady Road Saturday afternoon, police said.

Occupants in the other vehicle near Algonquin Road were taken to Albany Medical Center for their injuries. The extent of their injuries nor the number of the occupants is unclear.

Niskayuna police received the call at approximately 3:35 p.m, according to officials.

Two Niskayuna fire battalions and Mohawk Ambulance also assisted on the scene. Schenectady County Sheriff’s department officials assisted local police with an investigative reconstruction of the incident, according to a press release. 

The crash is under investigation.

Niskayuna police did not immediately respond to a request for comment. 

The incident comes less than a year after one person was also killed and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash on the same state highway.
