HIGH SCHOOLS – The Broadalbin-Perth boys got victories from Russom in the pentathlon, Hunter O’Dell in the triple jump (43-.5) and in the 400 relay to defeat Fonda-Fultonville by one point for the Section 2 Group 3 track and field championship at Taconic Hills High on Thursday.
The Patriots’ Stephen Chrysler, Dean Smith, O’Dell and Sam Hotaling posted a 45.16 to edge Tamarac/Hoosick Falls (45.25) and Fonda-Fulotnville (45.72) in the relay.
Fonda’s Bennett Melita doubled in the 3,200 (9:50.80) and 3,000 steeple (9:47.23), and Schalmont’s Carter Flowers won the 800 (2:01.92) and 1,600 (4:26.35).
On the girls’ side, Schuylerville won the team title, as Ryan Stark doubled in the pole vault (9-6) and the 400 intermediate hurdles (1:06.22).
In the Group 5 meet at Fonda-Fultonville High SchoolHoosic Valley’s Sophia Squires won the 1,500 (5:06.25), 3,000 (11:26.07) and 2,000 steeplechase (7:49.47).
Dante Corriveau of Warrensburg won the 800 (2:01.92), 1,600 (4:42.73), 3,200 (10:26.91), and teammate Justin Rushia won the 100 (11.38), 200 (23.07) and 400 (52.94).
Maple Hill won the boys’ team title, and Lake George edged Hoosic Valley by 10 points on the girls’ side.
