GLOVERSVILLE — The Annual Gloversville Memorial Day Parade will step off at 8th Avenue at 9:30 Monday morning.

The parade will first turn onto 6th Avenue, then proceed south on Kingsboro Avenue until it finishes at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

The Gloversville Parade Committee announced that this year’s grand marshal will be Michael Perrella, son of the parade’s longtime organizer who passed away in 2021.

“Robert Perrella served on the parade committee for close to 70 years and Michael had served right beside his dad for almost half that time, and continues to serve today,” said committee member Deb Finkle, in a statement.

The conclusion of the parade at the cemetery leads into the annual memorial service. Wreaths will be placed at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in the cemetery.

“While there are many deserving groups to serve as grand marshal, sometimes we forget to honor our own,” Finkle said in the statement. “Bob never looked for recognition and Michael is the same way, but both were and are most deserving of this honor.”
