ValleyCats hang on to beat Wild Things 6-4

WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Tri-City ValleyCats got the jump on the Washington Wild Things early and held on for a 6-4 victory at Wild Things Park on Friday night.

The ValleyCats (6-7) went up 2-0 in the first inning when Trey Hair hit an RBI double and Carson McCusker scored on a passed ball.

McCusker’s two-run single in the fourth gave Tri-City a 4-0 lead before the Wild Things started to answer with some offense of their own.

Aaron Altherr hit a solo homer in the fifth for a 5-1 lead, and he hit an RBI single in the sixth to give the ValleyCats a 6-2 lead.

Washington got one back in the bottom of the sixth and cut it to 6-4 in the eighth.

Reymin Guduan pitched the ninth inning for the ValleyCats, getting a flyout and a strikeout before Washington’s Nick Gotta singled. Guduan struck out Abraham Sequera to end the game.
