BALLSTON SPA – Runners and walkers of all ages came together recently for the Ballston Spa Central School District’s Scotties Stampede 5K. The race was held on Wellness Day, an annual event hosted by the district to promote healthy living.
Competitors Andrew Wade, Ari Bishop and Robert Diamond placed first, second and third respectively.
Scotties Stampede followed the popular Kids Color Run, in which roughly 300 students participated. Students were treated to a run around the Wood Road Elementary School campus amid clouds of color chalk. Community members also attended the Wellness Expo, which offered information from local organizations, a free bike raffle, live demonstrations and giveaways.
The 5K was sponsored by several local businesses and companies. Proceeds from Wellness Day activities will go toward the Ballston Spa Partnership for Innovation in Education Fund, which supports many of the district’s programs.
