WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Tri-City ValleyCats broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the top of the fifth inning and held on for a 5-4 victory over the Washington Wild Things on Sunday.

Cito Culver led off the inning with a double and came home on a double by Carson McCusker, the McCusker scored on a single by Trey Hair to make it 5-3 for the ValleyCats (6-7).

That score stood until Washington got a run in the bottom of the ninth inning when pinch hitter Abraham Sequera walked with one out, advanced to second on a hit-by-pitch and scored on a single by J.C. Santini.

Tri-City pitcher Andrew Edwards got out of a first-and-second jam on a double play to end the game.

Zach Biermann gave the ValleyCats a 2-0 lead with an RBI single in the first inning and hit a home run in the top of the fourth to tie it at 3-3.
