SCHENECTADY — Authorities on Monday identified the woman who died on Pleasant Street in Schenectady Sunday, and called for assistance locating a person of interest in the case.
Police said 44-year-old Tishawn Folkes-Taylor was the woman discovered a 1030 Pleasant St. early Sunday morning during a call of a woman in needed of medical assistance. Responding members of the Schenectady Fire and Police departments found Folkes-Taylor unconscious, according to police. She was later pronounced dead at the scene, a statement from police said.
“Ms. Folkes-Taylor died of trauma but her exact cause of death will be determined after an autopsy,” a press release from the Schenectady Police Department stated Monday evening.
Law enforcement officials also said Monday that they are seeking Timothy J. Taylor in connection to their investigation.
The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $5,000 reward for information successfully leading to Taylor’s whereabouts, according to the release. The statement describes Taylor as a Black male with a medium build, standing 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds, and with a tattoo on the left side of his neck.
If any member of the community is aware of Taylor’s whereabouts or has any information regarding the case, they are asked to call the Schenectady Police Dispatch Center at 518-630-0911 or the department TIPS Line at 518-788-6566.
This case comes less than a week after Philomen L. Henry, 30, of 953 Crane St. was found shot and killed in her residence on May 22. The scenes of Sunday’s homicide and Henry’s death are less than a quarter-mile apart in the city’s Mont Pleasant neighborhood.
Last week, police responded to Henry’s residence to check on someone’s welfare. Officers arrived and found Henry, who had been shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene by members of the Schenectady Fire Department.
No arrests have been made in Henry’s death. Police are asking anyone with information about her death to contact the TIPS Line.
