ALBANY – The UAlbany women’s lacrosse team made its first top-25 appearance this season the most important one.

UAlbany (13-7), which advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, was ranked 18th in the final Inside Lacrosse/IWLCA poll of the season. The last time a UAlbany team was in the top 25 was when the 2018 team ranked 24th in the preseason poll.

The Great Danes won their first America East title since 2012 with a 14-13 win over Binghamton, and made their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2017. UAlbany played 12th-ranked Virginia in the first round, and rallied from a 10-3 third-quarter deficit to win 16-14 behind seven second-half goals from Sarah Falk. It was the program’s second NCAA Tournament win, the first coming over Dartmouth in 2011. UAlbany next played host and fifth-ranked Denver – which was 21-0 at the time – in the second round and lost 8-6. Denver went on to reach the semifinals.
