Shenendehowa softball advances to state semis; Troy’s DeCitise throws no-hitter in regional win

Shenendehowa advanced to the NYSPHSAA Class AA softball semifinals Saturday, earning a 5-4 win over Baldwinsville at Carrier Park in Syracuse.

Shenendehowa will face North Rockland in the state semifinals on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Moriches Athletic Complex on Long Island. The winner will advance to play either Massapequa or Clarence for the state championship next Saturday. 

Olivia DeCitise pitched a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts in Troy’s 14-0 Class A regional final win over Massena. DeCitise also drove in three runs, Katie Pryor doubled and tripled, Olivia Ashline tripled and scored three runs, and Nadia Mulinio and Emily Meyer each had two-run triples.

Troy scored two runs in the first, five in the second, three in the third and four in the fourth, and the game ended by the mercy rule after five innings.

In Class B, Ichabod Crane rolled to a 16-5 win over Canton behind two RBIs apiece from Abbey Milazzo, Makayla Walsh, Kari Graziano and Emma Holmberg. Emma Scheitinger went 3 for 3 and scored four runs for Ichabod Crane, which used an eight-run third inning to break the game open after both teams scored four runs in the first.

Salem advanced to the state semifinals in Class D, notching a 4-2 win over Section 7’s Bolton/Schroon Lake.
