
ROTTERDAM — A fire at a Rotterdam restaurant led to nearly 20,000 in the area being left without power on Sunday morning.
Firefighters responded to a fire at Wagon Train BBQ Sunday morning, according to a Facebook post from the Mariaville Road restaurant.
“We want everyone to know that we are all safe. 🙏,” Wagon Train’s Facebook post read. “Thank you to the firefighters 🚒 and responders who arrived to the scene quickly and came to the rescue.”
According to a National Grid spokesperson, the fire spread to a nearby National Grid structure. Originally, workers were going to attempt to switch lines to avoid any outages. However, the fire made it unsafe and to ensure safety, power had to be turned off.
An exact number is not available, according to National Grid, the number of outages was approximately 20,000.
Power has since been restored, and Wagon Train will be closed for the day.
