
AMSTERDAM — The Amsterdam Mohawks erased a 2-2 tie by scoring 12 runs between the fourth and sixth innings in a 14-2 PGCBL mercy-rule rout of the Watertown Rapids on Tuesday at Shuttleworth Park.
The victory improved the East Division-leading Mohawks to 5-0.
Owen Parliament’s two-run homer for the Rapids tied the score at 2 in the top of the fourth. The Mohawks got those runs back in their half of the fourth when Cam Gurney scored on an error, and Gage Miller delivered an RBI single.
The Mohawks broke the game open with a six-run fifth. Jalen DeBose’s two-run single highlighted the inning.
Amsterdam closed out the game with a four-run sixth.
Gurney led the Mohawks’ 14-hit attack with three hits. Miller, Bruer Webster and Carlos Martinez added two hits apiece.
The Mohawks host the Utica Blue Sox at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.
