NISKAYUNA – Heather Kovar, former CBS6 reporter and subject of wide attention due to an on-air broadcast last summer, is back in TV news, in Texas.

Kovar has been reporting and anchoring at KBTX, a CBS affiliate in Brian, Texas, near where she grew up, since late last month.

“I am so lucky to be here on weekends just miles from my mom and where I went to high school,” she posted to her Facebook page May 20.

In that post, she shared one from a meteorologist at her new station who wrote “Everybody give a big HOWDY to Heather Kovar! She’s the newest member of the KBTX team and will be taking on the role of weekend anchor.”

She has since also reported, bylining several stories on the KBTX site since May 27. The Albany Times-Union earlier reported her return.

Kovar drew wide attention last summer last July for a CBS6 broadcast in which she appeared disheveled and slurred some of her words.

The Emmy Award-winning anchor, who had been with the station for six years, told The Gazette then she was sleep-deprived and exhausted. She’d also recently lost her father and returned to work in June after being away on family leave.
