EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The Tri-City ValleyCats dropped back to .500 on the season, as Jeffrey Baez homered twice and drove in five runs to lead the Evansville Otters past Tri-City, 6-1, on Thursday in the finale of a three-game series.

All of Evansville’s scoring came via the home run. Baez hit a two-run homer in the first inning and a three-run shot in the fifth, while Noah Myers added a solo blast in the third.

Aaron Altherr’s sacrifice fly in the sixth inning gave the ValleyCats (12-12) their only run of the night. Zach Biermann and Jaxon Hallmark had two hits apiece for the ValleyCats, who struck out 12 times.

Tri-City will wrap up its six-game road trip this weekend with a three-game series against the Gateway Grizzlies, which starts Friday at 6:45 p.m.
