SARATOGA SPRINGS – With air quality improving across the Capital Region, Saratoga Springs has decided to move forward with its annual Flag Day Parade Saturday.
The announcement Friday comes after the Burnt Hill-Ballston Lake Flag Day Parade was canceled Thursday evening due to smoke in the area from the Canadian wildfires, which have blanketed the state for the past few days.
“The current AQI (Air Quality Index) and weekend forecast indicate that Saratogians can enjoy outdoor activities this weekend,” said Mayor Ron Kim in a press release Friday. “Nevertheless, particularly if you have a sensitive health condition, please make sure you periodically consult AirNow for the latest local air quality measures.”
As of 11 a.m. Friday the Air Quality index was at 53 and is expected to continue to decrease, according to the release.
The parade is to start at noon Saturday on Broadway at Route 50 and continue until 2 p.m., ending at Congress Park.
