The firefighter was treated on scene, Moreno said. No one was inside the home at the time of the fire.
Firefighters were called to the home at 2217-2219 Guilderland Ave. shortly after noon Thursday.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames in the second floor and attic area. Crews got the fire out in about an hour. The home sustained heavy fire damage to the attic, as well as fire damage to the rear of the second floor and water damage to the first floor.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation later Thursday.
