SCHENECTADY – One person was hurt in an an early Saturday morning fire that damaged a Schenectady apartment complex, fire officials said.
The resident hurt was treated at the scene and taken to Ellis Hospital, Fire Chief Don Mareno said.
The call came in at the South Gates Apartments on Frank Street at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Mareno said.
The building contained 10 apartments. All residents were able to get out, though the one was injured, Mareno said.
No firefighters were hurt.
The fire caused major damage to the middle of the building.
It took firefighters about an hour to get the fire under control and about 90 minutes total to get it out, Mareno said.
The Red Cross was assisting the residents.
The fire was under investigation and not immediately suspicious, Mareno said.
